A bad idea that just doesn't seem to go away:
1) The move would not be cost efficient, even if we were rollong in money as a state.
2) Having the state government away from the highway system, away from the bigger cities, is essential in maintaining a balance between rural Alaska and the population centers which by their very nature have a different life focus.
3) Travel is uncertain? That's the way of life for most Alaskan areas. Experiencing the delays and frustratuions forces legislators to have empathy for rural Alaska; the reality of rural difficulties.
4) Gerrymandering of the legislative districts gives an unbalance in some ways; the location of the capotal helps restore some of this balance in ideas for what is essential for the whole state.

I agree on all counts. Also, a move would cause the unemployment rate in Juneau to soar. There would be the attendant drop in consumer spending, which would probably cause many businesses to go under. That would have a negative impact on the whole state, not just Juneau.
