I think it is so great that we have our waterpark here in Palmdale!
The first year the family passes got sold out very quickly and so we didnt get them. Last year I made sure to get them soon as they were offered and this year I did the same thing, got them right away! It is a good deal to get them early at the discounted price as it pays itself off quickly when you have 3 kids that go several times a week during vacation!

Anyhow, just wanted to comment on the park itself. We just love it, its clean and the staff are for the most part very polite and professional. The only thing is that we think the prices at the grill are a bit expensive so we do not eat there often. It would be nice if they lowered the prices a bit since it is basicly burgers, hotdogs and the like.

The lifeguards are for the most part very good too. They take their job seriously when it comes to swimmers safety. There have been a few incidents over the 3 years its been open where a few small accidents have happened and they always rush right in and do a good job. I feel it is safe in that sense.

One thing we did see on our last visit is 2 couples, young teen couples, being obscene in the lazy river. It was 2 girls and 2 boys about 14, 15 years old being VERY ovious with words and gestures that the boys had erections and they kept putting the girls on top of them from the front and back rubbing them back and forth..being very ovious. The girls just giggled with their legs wide open, wrapped around the boys and said stuff like...oh my god, its huge. Its hot and hard! They were being soooo ovious and loud!

I wasnt the only parent to notice these things. Other parents in the poor just watched and made faces at them.

Now, several lifeguards just watched them go on by in the river and did nothing, acted like ...oh well, nothing serious. Well.....maybe not serious but there are families that go there with young kids that dont need to see this and do not want their little kids see this either and these lifeguards should have said something!

So after seeing them do this for several rounds around the lazyriver I spoke up to a lifeguard you see what they are doing?! She said ...what are they doing? Who? I told her that she knew what I was talking about and that I saw her watch them and that she should tell them not to be obscene at the park. Only then did she yell out to them to do that behavior somewhere else.
Well, the couples only stopped for a little bit. They continued a few minutes later and just laughed it off. So I told another lifeguard about it and he said he would keep an eye out. Thats all.

They remained in the lazyriver for about another hour and no staff member said or did anything else. The kids just continued. I think the guards liked it. They need to be trained that things like this cannot go on in front of our children so they need to tell them to stop or they will be asked to leave.

I was so disgusted by these two couples it made me get out of the water.
I am going to talk to the people in charge when I go back. They need to train their staff on this. This is a FAMILY waterpark! I do not want to have to feel uncomfortable at the there with my family and neither should anyone else.

Other than this incident we have always had a good time at Drytown.

If you have been there take a survey about the park.

One thing I wish they could do is keep the park open for a longer time, say maybe until at least 6pm or 6:30. Closing at 5:30 is a bit early. It also stays very hot much longer!

I am talking about having the regular day open until late.
Not open from a 6pm-9pm session. Those are sessions you have to reserve as a group, called a Buy-Out Program.

It is not the same..its only 3 hours long.

The link I posted twice now takes you directly to the Drytown Waterpark website, not some blog about it.

You can read about the buy out program at the bottom of that page.

As was mentioned right now it closes daily at 5:30pm.

There are going to be 4 nights this summer where they will be open from 6-9pm
...July 11, July 18, July 25 and August 1.

Those nights should be nice. It just would be even nicer if they would stay open later everyday or have night sessions every night for ones who cant do the daytime.

Does anybody remember the name of the water slide/mini golf course/arcade arena they used to have next to Lancaster City Park (which is now a Costco) in the late 1980, early 1990s?

It really sad when you see this age group making out the way they do, I am a father of 3 girls 22,16,15. And i would never let them in that situation, I do not want my young daughters even seeing that much less participating. and for all of you that will say that it was my daughters there, Sorry NO. I keep a very close eye on them.

i think the park should stay open later 7-7:30 closing at 6pm is still kind of early hurricane harbor doesnt close that early.there are way too many ppl out here in the AV,so by closing at 5:30-6 not everyone gets to go down the few slides they have at drytown. And about the comment with the teenagers, thats disgusting. where were there parents???

Drytown is a nice little waterpark. However, the lifergaurds are so rude that I can't believe the management doesn't notice this and correct the behavior. I understand that they are young and feel like they have a big responsibilty, which they do, however, their behavior towards adults and children make us not even want to go back to Drytown. My 5 year old son is very sweet and likes to hug Sheriffs, firemen and lifegaurds, I guess his way of showing love towards them. When my son hugged one of the lifegaurds, he looked at my son with such a hateful look and damn near pushed him away. It hurt my son's feelings. Leaving me in the position where I had to make up an excuse to why the life gaurds are sooooo rude.
Furthermore, what is this ridiculous thing where they shut the children's section down for approx. 20 minutes so everyone has to get out and go tho the bathroom. I could hear so many parent's and children upset. On a good note I would like to add that the park manager Randy is a very nice man , he had to help me out on a situation involving my son and hanled it wonderfully.

I live down the street from the park. so I understand that when you are there it should be a fun time. but i have seen a number of unwanted teens there also. My boys go there and they even tell me that the other boys ( thats what we call Gang Bangers)are being gross and the girls that hang with them are mostly trash. not to be mean but some of them ruin it for the rest.. down the steet look me up in you want too.

Great little place if you want to watch the majority of illegals from the east side enjoying their weekly baths.

If you enjoy wading in piss water come on out and enjoy. They really should check papers at the entrance in an effort to keep these illegal bottom feeders out .... Just Saying
