Worst experience ever. My elderly father called this plumber to unplug his toilet and shower in his portion of my house. I came home at 10:30 to find out that my father had thrown me under the bus and told the young repairman that I had done something under the house that had caused the problem. I told the fellow what I had done and told him it had nothing to do with the clogged pipe in my fathers bath. A quick snake job and off down the road you go... I changed clothes and crossed paths on my way out the door. The young repairman now says his supervisor has told him he has to go under the house to see the problem. I told him it was unnecessary and gave him my phone number if there were any problems snaking the line. I checked my phone every hour for the next 6 hours. In my mind I figured the problem was again short lived, as this happens regularly with my 95 year old father who thinks anything and everything can make its way down our plumbing. Now at quarter to 6 I get a call from the supervisor that my father, with dementia, has approved a $6,000 to $8,000 re piping job under the house and that work was to start immediately the next morning...Wow, what the heck are you talking about? This was supposed to be an inexpensive snake job and if that did not work, a phone call to me with your thoughts. What have you done? Well not much. We pulled his toilet and ran a snake down it and then a camera. Well what did you find? All your pipes back drain and there is standing water throughout the system...This is a huge problem and we have to start soon to correct 35 years of shoddy workmanship. Do not use this portion of the houses plumbing tonight or everything will overflow.
Slow down, I will be home in 10 minutes do not do a thing until I get there... I got rid of them, but not without having to pay for their free day in my house.$684 for a toilet removal and reinstall and a snake job. Boy, what a snake job. Oh the camera was free, Ya, right! Whoopee! Needless to say I crawled under the house the next day with a level and all the pipes were fine. I cleaned up my Dad's shower and ran water through the system that was not supposed to work. I flushed his toilet and ran water throughout the house. I has been 2 weeks, the check was cashed and our plumbing works like new. What's wrong with this picture? What a scam. My skin crawls at the thought of how many seniors out there fall for scams like this.
If only I had stayed home and taken care of this myself...
