How is this stimulating the economy?
It stimulates the economy by having a positive impact on crime (crime reduction) which translates into increased safety, and increased business. Quite simple. On the other hand, increased crime is often due to the limited police presence, which leads to increased property crime, which leads to an increase in the money spent to detain suspects and convicted criminals leading to a population explosion in prisons. The number of state prisons in PA has increased from 7, in 1980, to 27 today. Get the picture?

Stop your constant whinning and complaining. You guys and gals are the first ones to complain about crime when it happens.

Whatever the cops do or don't do, get or don't get, you will whine and complain.

As a taxpayer, I'm sick and tired of you whinners. If you don't like it, move out of the Lehigh Valley to another country.

Why no give it to the Police. President Obama is increasing welfare benefits and giving free medical care to illegal aliens. What does that do to stimulate the economy?

OMG! How do you get the courage to say such things. I see education hasn't effected you none. We don't need more cops!

OMG.Are you blind or just uneducated. You are honestly telling me you don't see a gang or drug violence problem brewing in the Lehigh Valley?

I may agree with you about more cops not always being the answer, but the rest of your thinking is not within reality. Proper placing of resources and reporting crime statistics honestly are the answers. I work in the system. I can't wait to retire so I can get my Freedom of Speech back and tell fellow taxpayers about the nonsense that certain Police Administrators, to kiss a Politican's butt, do.

Nobody will agree not even Chief Palmer I bet when it comes to Allentown needing more cops and Easton...The only other pd nearby in more need than Allentown is Philly. How does Philly get money and Easton but no tALlentown? Something really wrong here..Were numbers and data fudged????
Ed was trying to keep the numbers low because this is an election year and it came back to bite him in the butt. Excellent forethought by the Pawlowski administration.
