Good call, Comment. You make quite a few valid comments and present it well.

What it came to the problem in Hazleton concerning illegals, the feds jumped right in and said...hey, WE are in charge of making the laws. And in my opinion that is exactly how the state should view this case and tell Easton...hey, WE are in charge of this kind of law. A siezure of property law valued at more then the current code calls for should be struck down.

Good thing the john didn't take her home on a bus. Would Easton take the bus? Or the guys home? Sheeessss.

The guy was caught, book him, fine him and done. Stealing his car is only an inconvenience and probably is unconstitutional. I'd like to know how much revenue Easton can get from it. I'm waiting for them to get their next patsy arrests, speeders, by confiscating their cars. Corruption usually does snowball like that.

Most if not all street hookers are drug addicts. Patronizing them furthers the drug trade and furthers the demise of the addicts. Add to that the risk of STDs as well as the possibility of violence from a complete stranger whose vehicle the desperate streetwalker enters. These are a few reasons why this activity is deemed a public health hazard.
I Completely Agree!!!!!!!

Hey people - this law was passed a while ago you knew it was law so when you break the SO SORRY FOR YOU!

Ignorance of the law is now excuse.
You might not think its fair but too bad its the law! What are 5 complaining that the teacher took our ball and it isn't fair. The guy committed a crime and he looses his car according to the law. Plain and simple!

Its not about the law, Major, its WHO sets the law. These laws are set and regulated by the state and specifically not to be overriden by a local law as is the case with this local law. PA has jumped at other local communities that have stepped on state toes by trying to set higher standard local laws in the past. And they will do it here again. Its only a matter of time.

I am not saying I don't believe Easton has not set a good deterent. What they've done is break the law setting their law, and that is illegal.

The law is illegal and those who voted in the law should be immediately fired from their taxpayer-funded jobs. Easton's government keeps going from bad to worse to idiotic. It is a disgrace.

Morganelli was quiet about this entire episode...Likely because even he knew it was unconstitutional...Another foul by Easton, Pant and his PD...I never thought Panto was the solution to Easton PD's woes...But no I see why he is there...He can do wrong too and not be held accountable...I said it before and I will say it again:this is what you get when you have unqualified leaders...get your checkbooks out Easton residents...I am certain there are more suits coming from this and other foul-ups that Panto and his boy's are doing and have done...

Amendment V
Rights in criminal cases
No person shall be held to answer for a capital, or otherwise infamous crime, unless on a presentment or indictment of a Grand Jury, except in cases arising in the land or naval forces, or in the Militia, when in actual service in time of War or public danger; nor shall any person be subject for the same offence to be twice put in jeopardy of life or limb, nor shall be compelled in any criminal case to be a witness against himself, NOR BE DEPRIVED OF LIFE, LIBERTY, OR PROPERTY, WITHOUT DUE PROCESS OF LAW; nor shall private property be taken for public use, without just compensation.
5902 (e.1)(1) Patronizing Prostitutes (first/second offense) M3 criminal code grading.
Until this move forward thorugh court system and potentially US Supreme Court they will rule that these type of ordinances are violations of the legislative role of states in setting criminal code and sentencing. That local fines above and beyond the grading of the crime by legislature is a clear violation of due process clause of the 5th Amendment.
How could it be plausible that a M3 crime which has a maximum fine of $2,500 and maximum sentence of 1 year in prison that a "local municipality ordinance" would supersede the Commonwealth Title 18 Codes for Criminal Offenses?
It should and in all probability will be ruled an invalid ordinance that violates States legislation as well as 5th Amendment. What if I have a $1 million McLaren? Do I lose it if the fine can only be $2500 under State law?
§ 1101. Fines.
A person who has been convicted of an offense may be sentenced to pay a fine not exceeding:
$50,000, when the conviction is of murder or attempted murder.
$25,000, when the conviction is of a felony of the first or second degree.
$15,000, when the conviction is of a felony of the third degree.
$10,000, when the conviction is of a misdemeanor of the first degree.
$5,000, when the conviction is of a misdemeanor of the second degree.
$2,500, when the conviction is of a misdemeanor of the third degree.
$300, when the conviction is of a summary offense for which no higher fine is established.
Any higher amount equal to double the pecuniary gain derived from the offense by the offender.
Any higher or lower amount specifically authorized by statute.
§ 1104. Sentence of imprisonment for misdemeanors.

Easton isn't ignoring "violent" crimes, they have different departments that handle different things. Its not like they are taking their murder investigators and dressing them up as hookers!
Also, hookers & pimps are all part of the vicious cycle of violent crime in Easton. The hookers are spreading for money for they're next crack rock the pimps are dealing and getting these whores hooked.
Hey if you break the law you pay the consquences however servere they are. Don't be so freaken desperate!
Well said. In my opinion, some of these women are also being turned out there by gang members, furthering the workings of these gangs. Also, you can't have prostitution if you don't have johns. How is it that one never hears of the women screaming "rights violated"? It's always the men. Perhaps if they only unzipped at home, they wouldn't need to hire Gary. It's not like they had no clue this wasn't going to happen, after all it was published in the papers several weeks before the first bust. Grow up gentlemen (using the term lightly) and take your medicine. You were wrong, just man up.
