Circut City unfair

If you are sold a defective computer. Should you be required to pay a 15% restocking fee to get your money returned?
Do they restock defective computers??

I believe that both Best Buy and Circuit City, along with several other estabishments charge a restocking fee for their electonic merchandise. Yes, I do find this fact to be appauling, especially in the event that you are returning a defective product. And, even if you are returning a completely perfect product, they are going to be able to resell it and get their money back on that return, so why charge a restocking fee? I just think, either way, it boils down to simple greed on their part. And, yes, it is totally unfair and unjust treatment to their consumers. I say check the store policies out before you buy any item from them. If you disagree with their policies, don't shop there. Find a store that will care about you--too bad the "Mom and Pop" days are over....the big chains ran them out, but should've took a clue from their wonderful customer service and true care for the consumer.

I bought a 34in sony wega with a gold package protection plan at circut city. The tv quit working the 1st week in august 2006, this is now oct. 11,2006 and the tv still isnt fixed or replaced. Numerous attempts have been made to contact the company, their response is "Im sorry for your inconvenience". This is 3 1/2 months of failure to uphold all signed agreements, sort of makes you wonder how they stay in business.

I purchased a Sony Vaio Computer with the protection plan (additional $410) and first was told the protection plan does not cover hardware when the screen had a crack in it. Now the computer will not work and I am told they will not cover the computer, because I did not fix the screen! In other words, they cover nothing! I am done, if they do not fix my computer I post on every site I can DO NOT SHOP AT CIRCUIT CITY. They sell you a protection plan that does not protect.

the empolyees at both best buy and circut city are known for stealing credit card info. I was almost ripped off for $3oo when a circut city worker tried to wire money via western union.my credit card company called and asked if I made this transaction.luckly the transaction was stopped.I called circut city and informed them that there employee (I gave his name) tried to wire himself $300 dollars . their response was so what !the guy still works there. i will nver walk in that store again.

I do all my shopping online since I can read reviews and usually can get a better deal then going to the store. As for the fine print, well sadly, we have to ask more and more questions about it because big business really has taken away trust factor in its customer. Its all about the money, and we are suckers because places like Best Buy and Circut City can sell more with lower prices. On top of that they thought it would be a good idea to save some more money by giving its employees the boot and let them get their job back at a lower wage.

Ok....let's clear something up....

I work there. I hate it. But not for the reasons mentioned.

Most people, no offense, don't understand anything they buy. If you READ the return nonsense- software issues don't make a machine defective. You only pay the fee IF you are wanting a refund with NO exchange or anything else. If it were defective, they should have tested it and determined it to be HARDWARE.

Secondly, the protection plan COVERS cracks in screens IF you buy the ACCIDENT one. People just don't read anything or want to pay extra. The truth is- the warranties are really good, actually, IF you do it the proper way. And if you READ.

My beef with them is their FIRING of half our store for "making too much money." We have 1 person on the floor most of the time. You need 4 to run anything even somewhat well. You are now expected to do the job of 3 people for the wages of 1. No commission. No bonuses. Nothing. You get hourly and are so tired by the end of the day from the extensive walking and lifting, due to lack of bodies in the store, you hurt by the time you get home.

Yeah people lie cheat and steal. but they do it everywhere. Get over it. Life sucks because peoples' moms failed at raising their kids.

Truth is- warranties good, if you read. Store evil for work practices and "little white lies" told to customers. Don't shop there. They're going under. But you can't blame western union transactions and all that- that's everywhere. You can blame their new "management plan" right now. We're up to the 3rd wave of firings.

Glad this summer job is over in 2 weeks.

i bought a 42'hitachiplasma less then 1 year old.Got red lines in it called store. Set up repair now has been almost 2 months.

I have never had a pleasant experience shopping at CC. My last purchase was 50 dvds and I hope that it will last me till I see them closing up and out of business

Bought a computer and TV at Circut City. Was going to pay for it that day. Salesperson said they were offering 18 months no interest credit through Chase. Sounded good, signed up. After 2 months, I got a bill for $70 for interest! Contacted Circut city, they said contact Chase, Chase said contact Circut City.
I got no satisfaction (not the cd). Paid the whole thing off. I will never buy anything there again nor will my children or GrandKids.

Electronics are fragile cc are crooks only in their tech help and service like everone else. Boy from them then if it brakes after manufactures warranty expires usually 3 days haha. Mail it to the manufacturer pay the shipping Pay repair and it will be done well and returned faster than circut tech geek squads and big box thiefts. Electronics are historically not returnable to the store. too much work lots of broken crap. Big company's like dell are selling these insurance and tech or warranties on their own crap 1000dollars for a laptop then 300 for a warranty they should kiss but they won't they say ok go to circut city pay 300 plus only 600 for an Acer and it won't get fixed. Tough companies. Just buy the cheaper brands they will fix it just as fast as anyone ps Please don't spend so much on electronics Big flatscreen tv's 3000 dollar computers. Ipods Get a san disk they're great if it brakes so what it was only 50 bucks. be cautious call the manufacturer be nice ask questions be gentle on these electronics. By the way big electronic stores always go out of business always have. Don't expect coverage from the store it's their choice to help you don't buy help from them it's throwing money away use it to send it to the manufacturer.....

I payed for a samsung 50in hd tv that turns it,s self off after being on for 15min had it serviced 4 times with no results . so when I called customer service asked to talk to supervicer was told no! SO WHO DO YOU TALK TO. WE SOULD BOYCOTT THIS COMPANY

Wait wait wait, let me get this straight... first you go anf BUY their expensive products and then when it's defective and you take it back, they actually CHARGE you to take back from you? WHAT?! I don't know much about that because I don't have much in the way of electronics.(That's what I get for having roommates for so long-- I finally got my own place and don't have any of my own things. hee hee).

Sounds like you broke your computer and then exspected them to replace it because you probably had a temper tantrum because it wouldnt download your kiddy porn fast enough. No store would ever replace physical damage due to neglect. Computer screens dont just crack on their own.
