Palm Bay City Council decided it was ok to raise property taxes and impose storm water fees to your utility bill because there is goinf to be a 6.5 million dollar budget shortfall next year. So why did they spend 3.1 million dollars on trash carts that the City of Melbourne got for FREE? Perhaps a currupt few members on council or just plain ignorance and money management. Visit

Repeal the storm water fees. Throw out the helpless mayor and corrupt council members that approved these fees and raised property taxes. Enough is enough. Citizens need to unite and voice their opinions loudly. Dont keep silent.Do something about it.

If you were angry before, read this.

We all know FPL is efficient after a storm in getting downed wires and black-outs restored with employees working round the clock costing them millions in over-time and material replacements. After four years of extreme hurricane damage, FPL had to get APPROVAL from the PUBLIC UTILITIES COMMISSION to add a storm charge to our bills. The AVERAGE is 34-CENTS per MONTH - and I doubt anyone objects.

That raises 3 questions:

1) WHO is the City of Palm Bay Utilities over-sight & regulatory agency? And if there isn't one, why not?

2) Who approved the City of Palm Bay's outrageous INCREASE for storm water fees of $4.47 a month - and how was that amount justified in terms of ACTUAL SERVICE over and above the normal expenditures - and

3) EXACTLY what does that $681/yr BEFORE the increase cover in actual services rendered - on the BOOKS, not in some City Council's figuring about how to balance their budget as they increase the debt - which is now $178 MILLION?

RECYCLING Cans Initiative.

Did you know that Florida is 40 YEARS behind California in recycling? OR that "awards" are passed on to residents who comply ... EXCEPT if you live in Palm Bay?

Did you know that Waste Management turns around and SELLS what YOU have dropped in the recycling container at a PROFIT of $10 to $30 per 100 lbs?

So comes the Q ... WHY didn't the City of Palm Bay INVESITGATE as WM's "partner" how to pass on those "awards" to its constituency?(I believe Volusia Co has such a program attached to the state mandate for recycling.)

And - at the VERY LEAST - why aren't residents getting an annual "bonus" in the form of a reduced Utilities bill based upon a percentage of the PROFITS realized from OUR recycled efforts? OR is the "bonus" being passed on from WM to the City of Palm Bay instead of us?

But that isn't all. Read on...

Why were containers purchased AT ALL?

So the Palm Bay City Council decided the City should BORROW THREE MILLION EIGHT-HUNDRED DOLLAR$ for trash carts that the City of Melbourne got for FREE (with the option for large families to have 96 Gallon cans instead of 64 G., which was not a Palm Bay resident option.) And then a PB Councilman's answer to WHY the City borrowed $3.1M (including interest) when it was already $175 M in DEBT, was that Palm Bay's credit was better than Waste Management's (whose higher costs would've been passed on to residents.)

That raises a more BASIC Q in this ECONOMY:
Why the NO-BID purchase of garbage cans instead of requiring residents to buy their own garbage cans at a cost of $10-$25 each?(And have you noticed the great CARE taken with the new cans by WM? They are NOW carefully replaced in their original position instead of being THROWN in the street or FLUNG in the next door neighbor’s yard.)

And if THAT doesn't fry your feathers, read on and learn how ELSE you're getting "tattooed" by the Palm Bay City Council with Lee Feldman, City Manager, being their #1 cheerleader...

The City OWES every household a CREDIT OF $16.32...

For what?
SERVICES NOT RENDERED from Oct. 1st to Nov. 15th for which we charged $10.88 a month.

Anyone who has ever had ANYthing to do with a CONTRACT -- providing they have 2 brain cells that fire in concert with one another -- KNOWS to include a clause for "Failure to deliver on time" and that usually means a bond is posted by the supplier to cover any losses in the event delivery is delayed and NOT reported within 45-60 days PRIOR to the promised delivery date.

Whether or not the Palm Bay City Council included that proviso in their contract for the trash carts is not our problem, but theirs. The FACT remains we were CHARGED for services NOT rendered for six weeks, and that CREDIT of $16.32 is due and owing each household.

IF the City Council or the City Manager were operating with ANY integrity, we would have been advised of that credit without any mention of it from customers, but THAT didn't happen, did it? But WE CAN make it happen.

Send a postcard, or drop a note in "Water Dept's Drop Box" (one is on Palm Bay Road on the east side of the Fire Station), and ask for "An immediate credit of $16.32 for Sanitation Services Not Rendered for Oct 1 thru Nov 15." and sign it - with your account number included.

If that doesn't work within 30 days, there's always the media looking for a juicy story of government corruption, incompetence, inequality or injustice ... especially in this economy.

Vote them ALL out, especially the Mayor. Lee Feldman quit b/c the Council refused to be reasonable and fair to residents.

Guess which PB City elected official hangs out in a public park and gives cigarettes to minors...(Think, maybe, it's the same one with a drinking problem?)
