According to a poll conducted by a survey company for Waste Management on October 1 and 2, Palm Bay residents are happy with their new garbage collection service. Read More: http://news.brevardtimes.com/2011/10/palm-bay...

Our complaints are NOT with Waste Management, but the PALM BAY CITY COUNCIL's decisions for Utilities & the sloppy contracts made with WM and the container manufacturers (i.e., NO Performance Bond, but that's typical of the lousy management "ability" in the City Council.)

Our bills have jumped 35% because those clowns don't know how to manage a city, and we've yet to see a sharing of the profits for recyling -- a real windfall for the City with all kinds of do's and dont's from residents.

The huge garbage and recycling bins don't fit in my single car garage and I don't like once a week garbage pick up.

Well... I live in Palm Bay, and I'm not happy with the service. And what's interesting is that my neighbors to my left are not happy. My neighbors to my right are not happy, and My neighbors across from my house are not happy. Strange..... When I went up and down the street asking others how they liked the new service, I couldn't find even one that was happy with once a week pickup.
Just for the record.... I was in that survey and voiced my opinion.
So you headline "Palm Bay Residents Happy With New Garbage Collection" is a lie.
It should read "SOME Palm Bay Residents Happy With New Garbage Collection"

I have lived in Palm Bay for 25 years and I must say the new garbage collection is very unfair!

Today is the normal collection day, but since it falls on the 4th of July, garbage will not be collected until the next scheduled pickup day which is July 11th, SEVEN DAYS FROM NOW!

I know for a fact the town of Indialantic has garbage pickup TWICE A WEEK and is given TWO containers for garbage plus ONE for recycle, and they DO NOT pay twice as much for garbage collection. I can't believe the people of Indialantic have twice the amount of garbage as Palm Bay...or would that be four times?(two containers and twice a week pickup).

I think our Palm Bay city leaders sold us down the river again!(or is it just plain incompetence?)

Perhaps the town of Indialantic has more Attorneys and high profile individuals to ensure the fair treatment of it's residents.

Let me go on record as NOT being "happy with the new garbage collection service".

Once a week is plenty and for those who seem to need more I'm not paying for that. Have the city provide you extra cans. Those who can't seem to get there garbage out on time TFB! Get a schedule and a life.

Actually, your pick up will not be on the 11th, but the 6th. There was a notice stating this that came along with my water bill about a week ago. But no I am not happy with the change either. Between the change to once a week pick up and the new canisters with lids that do not seal, I have experienced a TREMENDOUS growth in the amount of flies in and around my home!
