There was a bad car accident on the corner of Emerson and Waco on 5/14 around 5:30-6 in Palm Bay. Does anyone have information about fatalities or people involved?

We drove by this accident yesterday and it looked like it was right after it happened. I have been wondering the same thing but haven't seen any information on the news or Florida Today. There was only one car involved, so we were trying to figure out what happened. It was a very bad accident. We could see one person in the back drivers side and he looked like he was deceased... the whole front roof was caved in so I don't think anyone in the front could have survived. Very scary sight to see.

How fast was he going that he flipped his car? It's not an intersection that has a high speed limit.

Yes it was a very bad accident. He did die. He seemed to be going anywhere from 60+. He was going south on Emerson and went over the median and just couldnt stop i guess. it happend around 512pm and the cops and tow truck left around 8pm. I dont think that he flipped but i do know that he hit the tree so hard that glass and metal was inbeded in the tree....it is so sad!

Wow, I can't believe that. It's scary because we must have passed by just after it happened. Had we left the house a few minutes earlier we would have been at that intersection when it happened. So tragic.

I live right there and I was outside walking my dog. I had just turned back to walk towards my house when i heard the very loud screeching tires coming towards us so I started running westward so I could get in between my house and the neighbors house for protection. I was so scared! I wasn't really sure why I was runnig tho. When I turned around I saw the car go airborn (literally!) and then hit the ground in the parking lot of the Kangaroo and thank God he did't hit any of the gas pumps! Then he hit the tree and it made the loudest noise I've ever heard in my life. The door was ripped off. After I called 911 I went over there to see if he was ok. But sadly he was definitely dead. WARNING if you don't like gruesome details, DON'T READ ANY FURTHER! His body was in an upright position in the back seat. He looked totally normal except that his entire brain was hanging down by a string looking thing in front of his face down by his chin. It was fully intact, not in pieces. Surprisingly I didn't see hardly any blood. The police were there pretty quickly, took my statement and then I went home and watched the rest through my front window. I'm pretty sure I was in shock. My poor little dog still won't go outside thru the front door! I couldn't believe there weren't any news crews there. I was so glad to find this on the internet today. I can't stop thinking about that poor man. I have so many questions. Why was he going so fast? Was someone chasing him? How old was he? Does he have family here? Was he drunk or on drugs? Did his gas petal stick? Where was he coming from? Does any one have any more information? I would find it comforting.

Thank you for sharing, although it was very gruesome. I found myself wondering a lot of the same things just after we passed this horrific accident. I looked online and couldn't find anything mentioned about it, nor on the news. Usually the report on fatal car crashes, but nothing. I could see the man sitting in the back seat but as we passed by I couldn't tell if he was a passenger in the back but I guess now it makes sense that he was the driver and ended up in the back seat. There was no door that I could see, because I could see the man's clothing. It looked like he was wearing jean shorts and sitting perfectly upright, but clearly looked like he was dead, judging from the condition of the vehicle. I couldn't get that image out of my head as we continued down Emerson. We live in Bayside Lakes, so we're just not far from where this happened. I found it bizarre that the car was so badly damaged and not another car in sight. My husband and I were trying to figure out what happened that a single car ended up like that, but it makes sense based on what I have read on here about what happened. I'm sorry for anyone who witnessed this or saw it up close, because I definitely got more than the view I wanted as we passed very close by.

His name is Dante Johnson, he graduated from Bayside High School in 2007. He was very quiet and shy, I'd known him since the seventh grade. Thanks Tiffany for all of the details, it's incredibly sad that there isn't anything online or in the news. His family wasn't even too informed with details. Thanks so much for your compassion and amazing heart, and calling the authorities. Dante was a beautiful person. He will be dearly missed.

My dearest Dante Johnson.. It's hard to except the fact that you are gone... so I wont. Truly an angel on earth. 22 years young. Bayside Grad. You were far from shy & quiet. Going all the way back playing in the mudd to walking the same college hallways. He does not drink and drive or do any of that stupidness. He was a great man, best friend, son, grandson, classmate... a great everything. He truly is greatness. I love & miss you. R.I.P. Dante "Greatness" Johnson. Gone But Never Forgotten.

car was traveling at high rate of speed for the road it was on, it is possible the vehicle throttle was stuck and the driver took it off the road to avoid the intersection.

I'll give the benefit of the doubt that this is what happend. The car was an older car so this is quite possible.

I'm not sure why he was speeding but I do know him personally, he was a Christian God fearing young man, on his way home from College to live with his parents for the Summer. He has never done a drug in his life, never been in trouble, it was just his time to go.

I would really like for people to stop saying stuff that isn't true. There are people who read the posts who truly loved him. He wasn't comming home from college, He didn't do drugs or drink. Dante was a great person may he rest in peace.

Truly a sad, sad story. I live right next door to his parents and family. I can attest his family is a very well rounded wholesome family. I heard he was on his way back from wal-mart, and either something medically happened or possible mechanical failure of the car. I did not know Dante personally, but my childern play with his little brothers and sisters. Very sorry to see this happen to a wonderful family.
