I believe listening to loud music is a stupid choice. Every person in the U.S. should have that right if they want to damage their ears, brain etc. Why do they roll down their car windows and make us listen to it? My Wife is a Nurse and has to get up at 4 a.m. She goes to bed early and last night about 9 p.m. a car went down our dead end street with the music real loud and woke Her.We have loud music laws in Vicksburg where we live but the Police dont care.

as i said some could tone it down a bit. but the fact remains that we all like to listen to music.i dont however think that someone should go to jail over it.im glad i live where i do cause we all like music and on weekends and some week days we all crank it.folks who dont like to llisten to music i would really hate to see what thier social life is like. get over it. its 2008 not 1940. this is suppose to be a freedom country.. well i agree that after a curtain time we all should tone it down. but on weekends everyone should have the right to crank it up.if we make are cops in this town worry about someone playing loud music then thats taking them away from far more important issues like killiings and rapes and robberies that go on in this town.

Update: The city council of Palm Bay where this article originated is now drafting legislation to allow police to impound the vehicles of offenders violating this ordinance. Without a trial. They are out of control! That's the whole point of the story, not whether or not your personal preference is to thump or to be a lump...

Major kudos for Palm Bay. Loud bass radios are a very real form of assault and battery. You can feel the low-frequency bass waves, and many people are made seriously nauseous.

I understand that some people don't realize that they are offending. What I don't understand are those people who are purposely offensive, revelling in causing discomfort to others.

Man you all have totally forgotten what it was to be young and bulletproof. Now you want your grand kids losing their cars and going to jail for listening to their loud music... I'd like to see you lose your cars and go to jail for talking on your stupid little cell phone while you should be paying attention to the road, which causes far far more accidents and death on the highway than a little noise you don't particularly care for. lol. hypocrites.

1st, yes we would here it only for a couple of seconds from YOU! Then a couple from the next guy and the next guy and so on. I'm not saying don't listen to music but what about the people that work at night and are trying to sleep? This music raddles my windows 30 seconds before I even see a car. If they are in there right to force me to listen to there music, then I am within my rights to pull them from there car and beat the living crap out of them, one law being broken deserves another. If I can hear your music 75 feet from your car then it is too loud. I am a home owner and I believe I have the right to watch tv in my own home and not have to listen to your music or shut my windows so I don't have to listen to your music and then hear them raddle. This is getting way out of control. Some action has to be taken and if the law doesn't do something about it soon action will be taken some other way. I am a betting man and I would be that if I were to find just the most God awful music and blast it out in front of your house when you are trying to sleep you would call the police in a heart beat.

I have silly bass riders in my neighborhood and I am not one of them. I have more respect for other's rights than that and more respect for myself. And you can be sure that my bass comes at you a mile and half before I pass by... those wannabe posers with cheap subwoofers and weak amplifiers are the idiots driving down your street with stereo cranked and windows down. I have to shut down my system long before I pull into a neighborhood or a parking lot to avoid offending old fogies and to avoid notifying thieves to break in on my solid gold ride. My bass is so low. The cops cant tell its me cuz I got eagle eyes and a quick mute button.

Remember there are laws that govern us as citizens. Allowing police to create crimes and arrest people is wrong. This is corruption. Police corruption grows and manifests itself in our daily life ripping away at our Freedom and Liberty.

For one to be arrested they are stolen as citizens and deprives of their Freedom, this is not an issue we as citizens should be taking lightly or in jest. It is an act of violence arresting someone, we really need to understand the ultimate price we will pay for allowing police to be corrupt, because it may fall back on you, and you may be the victim of a corrupt cops.

Palm Bay Police have been cited many times in illegal and corrupt activates.

I love blasting my music, not because I need to compensate or try to look cool but I just like listening to the loud bass.
I DO IN FACT lower my music when i drive through heavy residential areas and schools or when it's really late. I do bump it pretty loud on the highway and around the business area.
An issue like this is like every other thing, a battle between what YOU want and your responsibility to others.

And the cops should keep their noses out of it unless its a blatant disturbance of the peace. Would you bass haters think it would be good for the cops to start arresting people caught chatting it up on the cel while driving? It's far more dangerous and causes fatal accidents every day. You'd probably all be sitting in jail...

"Hears" the other generation that has no respect for the peace of others.

The Harley Davidson Riders, they choose the loudest straight pipes for their 1200 cc bike and rattle your teeth loose when they go by. As they enjoy making the throttle make the loudest sound possible going thru the bike's gears.
No helmet means no brains.....

Maybe the bass boomers and the baby boomers on Harleys will have to fight each other for the next hearing aid at the ear doctor's offices.

Loud music is played by those who crave attention; they have very low self esteem.

Loud Mouth, nice attempt at a troll post, but I see no useful or factual observations. Trolls crave attention; they have very low self esteem.
