The City claims (1) the water meets EPA minimum standards,(2) the water is "fine" after testing it from the outside spigot -- and yet the showerhead's spray unit is black, and the screen filter in the kitchen is constantly clogged up ... but that's just the beginning.
Thus far several local MD's have warned "If you live in Palm Bay, do NOT drink the water." Another MD (following eye surgery) warned: "Do NOT allow one drop of Palm Bay water near your eyes," and that was for 12 weeks.
So we did a little test of our own with a distiller and one gallon of water from the outside spigot, which is about 30' from the city's output. The residue results (placed in a sterile glass bottle): the depth of one-inch of water was medium BROWN and held up to direct sunlight it was NOT transparent. At the bottom and floating in the water looked like black & grey "dust bunnies" -- the same grunge clogging up the kitchen sink screen filter on a regular basis. But there's more...
This AM our maintenance man removed the handle in the bathtub (a push-pull type) to replace whatever was worn and preventing opening & closing the water the water flow. He handed me the parts to be cleaned. Forgetting the lime covering the chrome, inside the two tubes and the push-pull (clear) plastic cover was more than a tablespoon of dirt and sand.(No wonder the showerhead's holes were black and constantly clogged.)
He wasn't surprised: "I was in Home Depot a few days ago. An employee mentioned the soft water conditioners and cleaners were selling like hot cakes recently:'Apparently, more and more people don't want to drink Palm Bay water.'" If you've noticed, the stores have increased the amount of bottled water being sold, and not infrequently the shelves are almost empty.
Please reply... Do you think it's time we contacted the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to investigate this DANGER to our health and that of children & the elderly. Somehow non-transparent brown water & floating grunge from ONE GALLON of distilled City water doesn't seem HEALTHY to me ... does it to you?
