Mesa county criminal justice services.. the favoritism towards clients that "befriend" staff, denial of medical services, denial of 8th amendment rights, sexual, and verbal abuse, are just a few things noted by almost all clients. Retaliation against clients who express there basic human rights is all bit too common. Staff has no experience in helping rehabilitate clients. Staff mostly come from a background with no experience dealing with people from different backgrounds, such as abuse, or drug history. It's a simple fact that people need help recovering, and need stability. Creating a higher budget for a program that has such a high rate of failure , is disgusting. I would recommend that staff members go through a psych evaluation prior to employment. Case managers, such as Lisa Bristol are known to verbally abuse clients, deny medical attention, and retaliate against clients who file complaints. Directors don't make sure facilities are adequate to provide necessary safety and health standards.. Communication in a time of importance, or medical need is very rarely even accomplished. When dr's and medical staff have to call everyday, many times to attempt contact, it is in acceptable. Phone calls are never returned.
In a nutshell this program is horrible, and has such a low success rate it's appalling. When less than a quarter of clients are rehabilitated, and return to crime and drug abuse, I'd say it's a failure. Staff member are often seen locally frequenting bars, then driving home intoxicated. The new budget should be obvious in proving the corruption of these individuals
