Look, special needs children need schooling also. P/W gets double the amount for special needs children then they do for regular children. How do you think that they pay for their sports programs, the money comes from the money the government pays them to furnish special equipment for these children. And if you don't believe me check it out. Ask for an accounting of the money that they get for these children.

You didn't answer my question. Are you a teacher? If you are simply understanding, is not good enough. LOL

I beieve this would be the RIGHT thing to do. LET'S ASK FOR AN ACCOUNTING OF THE MONEY. The special needs money , should be going to those children.

Are you Mrs.Hobson.......sounds like u are...Great Rivers is equiped to help these children better. Money that the school has is not the issue here. You would think that as a parent you would be more concerned about getting the right help for him no matter were it is. But first you have to except the fact that he is not normal and stop forcing him to adjust to an enviroment that he cant get use to....Great Rivers has alot of money too. Ask them about their funding.

You really should do some fact checking. Were you at the last school board meeting? I doubt it. The money does NOT go for the sports programs. All of the new equiptment that Palestine has was paid for by the booster club. I have seen people like start some serious crap so I am stopping it now.

Whats your name? The issue here is money too. The reason being, that if YOU are receiving double the Federal money to help these children, and YOU are spending or allowong it to be spent on sports, instead of what you are excepting it for, THEN YOU SHOULD GO TO PRISON. That WOULD BE FRAUD. You have recieved the money for the equipment needed to help these children.YOU EXCEPTED IT for that purpose. Quit trying to push students to another school, when YOU HAVE RECIEVED the money to help them. Regardless what you say, I'm turning this in to the Federal Government, let them check as to where the money went.

For the last time, there has been ZERO dollars allocated for special needs children that was spent on sports. Do you hear me ZERO dollars. Go to a board meeting or request our schools budget. If you are wondering about new equiptment for any of the teams that was purchased in the past year I know for a fact that the booster club bought it. They even bought football uniforms, read a paper or do some research. Mr. Purtle would NEVER allow money to be spent where it wasn't allocated.

The funniest thing is you are talking about stuff you obviously know nothing about. This topic was started based on a newspaper article from Indiana. People are just looking for a fight. Instead of talking about playgrounds or signs shouldn't you be more worried abuot your child's education than where they play. Afterall school is a place to learn not play, I think you have it confused with a daycare.

I do know and a computer is a important subject for my child to learn about and she needs more than the one time a week they go to computer lab. And it is a issue I know several students who have been injured bc they were lettin them play on the bigger playground. How is that sign helping their education? I mean look at the library they have hardly any books it could have been put to better use. And yes mrs smith is an idiot she needs to stick to bein a nurse not a principal

Reading these comments is what is wrong with our district to begin with. I must say that over the past year PW has stepped up with the 504 program. I for one have a child that is a 504 student and he was neglected for his first 2 years at Wheatley..now he isn't wanting to do any work for the teachers and they are wondering why??? Instead of arguing about where the money is being spent and how on topixs, I urge you to attend a school board meeting and voice your opinion there! I agree that a sign over computers or books is alot of BS.

Just how is reading these comments,"is what is wrong with our district to begin with"? I don't understand, are you saying that it's best that the parents, and the outside, the school world NOT know whats going on? Why does YOUR 504 program need to be stepped up, when this has been law since what, the mid 70's? The 504 program has been stepped up as you put it, BECAUSE of the parents, reading "these comments". Also, if you have a 504 student, who has been neglected FOR 2 YEARS, do you think that you may have killed this childs motivation? If you are getting twice as much for a student with disabilities, and the money has not been spent on sports, JUST where has the money went?

Yes, and I understand that we should not talk about this for the world to see. That it would be easier to sweep under the rug, or ignore, if just held down to the school board meeting. Truth is, that won't anything be done, unless attention is brought to this situation. The 504 program, is not the only thing that nedds to be addressed, this school has been in violation of Federal law for quite sometime now. Money being just one of them.

By killing this students motivation, I mean that this student has come to fill like it does them NO GOOD to try, that Palesine High School is 40 years behind in the times. That Palestine school is wanting the students to come to school early, miss part of their lunch, and then stay after school for tutoring in order to get the credits they need. Not even to mention the homework. THIS IS NOT THE ANSWER. Now I agree that that the school has made a lot of changes, these changes are long past due. I understand that Mr. Purtle has not been here long. You will never be able to help all the students, untill you get in code. You CAN NOT, just turn your back on these children with disibilties.

I know it for fact. They started doing this when Mr. Turner was still super. And no, I am not a Mrs. Hobson, don't know her, but since my son was used as a poster child to get the money in the first place, then I do know what I am talking about. At the time they had a special needs teacher and classroom, the teacher was a Mrs. King. They came into her room and took all the equipment that was bought for the classroom and told her that they had other plans for the money and that no other equipment would be forth coming. Hench the football program was started. Booster club my foot, they can't raise the kind of money needed to support those programs. You need to go back and check this all out. Do it for you own peace of mind. I don't need to, because I know.
