I had a car stolen and then recovered by the PCSO. It was towed to Williams Auto Body in Palatka overnight. I was contacted to pick the car up there. I asked the officer the condition of the car, which he said was running, stereo playing and A/C working when he apprehended the thieves. Several hundred dollars for overnight service, cash only, I was told. First they would not release the car. After many calls that day to the Sheriffs' office, they finally called them and stated to release the car to me. The battery was removed, cables, the full tank of gas they stated it had was totally empty and they left their Georgia credit card.(Hose in the gas tank) The $300. stereo was goNe, windshield busted (the officer had not noted an obvious busted windshield.)
I complained, and got no where. They said they are on a rotation service. I still complained and no answer from the SO. Although he did state that usually cars impounded are those belonging to persons with DUI. This explains they commonly use a company known to rip parts off your car, while in their possession, and that's ok? Has anyone else had this problem?
