As a former resident of Alamo I know Javier Perez, Roy Padilla and others on the police force. I am not surprised that Padilla was selected as the new Pharr assistant police chief, because even after 29 years it is still a boy's club. Perez and Padilla have known each other since Perez was a dispatcher at the Alamo police department and graduated from the Police Academy. As Alamo police officers they ran together and covered eachothers indiscretions. Just like elected officials I think that there should be a new batch of officers every 4 years to weed out the bad ones. Where there is one bad apple there are others.
