you will if you don't ask them to hold out 10 0/0 out of your checks....if you don't you will be paying them back at the end of the year.

You do have to pay state tax on unemployment benefits and you don't have the option of having it held on each unemployment check you receive.

Yes you do have to pay income tax on unemployment thanks to republican president Ronald Regan. He also signed into law that if you and your spouse make over 32 grand you have to pay tax on your Social Security... Now think about this the next time you vote republican........ They raise taxes on the poor and middle class while lowering taxes on the wealthy....

Unemployment compensation is fully taxable at the Federal level. State law determines if it's taxable at the State level so you'll need to check with your State Department of Revenue to determine if it's taxed at the State level.

You may opt to have Federal income taxes withheld from your unemployment compensation. I highly recommend that you do so to avoid a debt at filing time next year.

Wrong....you need to get your facts straight before you blame your problems on government.Plus, if what you say is true, why haven't the power hungry Dems changed it?

Note: The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act temporarily will change the taxation of unemployment benefits for the 2009 tax year only. Under the new economic stimulus law, the first $2,400 of unemployment benefits received in 2009 will not be subject to federal taxes. The exemption will be reflected on those tax returns filed in 2010.

Its 100% taxable in KY though.
