$4 on a $38 check, that is terrible. That is just over 10%. Was the service that bad? 15% should be the minimum gratuity for acceptable service. 18% for good service. 20% or better for exceptional service. That is pretty much the industry standard FYI. Not judging, just saying. Servers make $2.13/hr. and are taxed on their sales you know.

It's a buffet, you shouldn't need to leave a tip for self service, the wait people are just glorified bus boys!

You are wrong. Servers in buffet style restaurants work just as hard. They still earn only 2.13/hr. They deserve to be tipped properly.

sorry to bust your bubble but full service the standard is 20% and buffet is most 10%(golden coral) but where you have a server its considered to be full service if they come back to fill your drinks along with bringing your food.

if it cost so much to eat there why do the server's only make 2.13 hr. the other fast food joints pay at least min. wage? why should we have to pay the servers wages and full price for the food?
im working there

im actually a server there. we are not just glorifified bus boys....although u may have just had the buffet, u should have left them a tip. they re the ones that got ur drinks, they are the ones that keeped ur table clear, always asking if u need anything else and then clean up ur mess. us server we work our asses off to beable to give up the best service we can...we only get paid 2.13 an hour we have to depend on our tips......glorified bus boys, why dont u try to walk in our shoes, u wouldnt be able to handle it. theres ur reality check.

Get over yourself. Your misinformation is not bursting any bubbles. Even restaurants that automatically add the gratuity for parties of eight or more only add 18%. I would like to opine that the industry standard should be 20%, however, 15% remains the minimum acceptable gratuity.
Another argument of interest on this subject: Do you tip on the sub total, or do you calculate the tip according to the amount after taxes are added?
