The high school shooting in Ohio should be a wake up call for faculty at Johnson Central High School. The bullying there is really bad. Seems like the staff ignores it and I worry someday the same thing will happen in our schools here.

It is your right as a parent to file a grievance if any children are being bullied, there are new laws on that matter.

It's always been bad. Teachers and administration have always chosen to ignore it. Most of the bullies are troubled kids with a dysfunctional homelife, and instead of punishing them and throwing them out of school, they let them fight and bully other students. Eventually, after they cause enough trouble, they'll send them down to the alternative school and pass them through. They need to kick them out of school for good instead of putting them on the gravy train at the alternative school and giving them a diploma for nothing.

Noooo....... Most bullies come from above income level families with the attitude of I can get away with anything. The kids that are bullied is barely hanging on in school with disfunctional homes and living in no win poverty. So you think that the kids having a hard time should be kicked out and they dont deserve a chance even if it is the alternative school by the way is safer to attend than main stream high school.

The kids living in privelege has no compassion and they are the bullies!!!!!!!!!!

The ones that ends up on alternative school is the ones that society is trying to save after being abused. Most times its to late and yes teachers will not step on the toes of the parents who thinks their kids poop dont stink..........Truth is the truth.

LMFAO, bullying at JCHS is NOT a problem at all. I'm probably one of the weirdest students they've had and if anyone should've been a target of bullying, it was me... but guess what? It never happened. Being outwardly bisexual and into different hobbies and interests throughout my high school career... people thought it was odd but I was never bullied for it. I think you all are just adults that are blowing things out of proportion. There hasn't been a single shooting or serious case of bullying there, and it's probably the best school I could've imagined attending... I think you all need to stop watching movies like Mean Girls and get a damn clue.

Girls are too jealous of each other. There's always a rich/poor, ugly/pretty, she's snotty and I hate her, yada yada type rivalry going on in these high schools. It needs to be stopped. It's hard for me to believe that teachers aren't noticing this. My daughter will be going there soon and I refuse to put up with any mistreatment. I'll go to the board and complain if this happens to her because it could easily be stopped. Ignoring it does not make it go away. Paul Setser didn't put up with this. He stopped it dead in it's tracks.

What about last year when the school was on lock down because one child spin in another child's face. and when the rich kid got threatened. they had the police there at school the next morning. They then waited for the boy to come to school knowing he was bringing a weapon. and they arrested the kid and put him in a detention center. The smart a$$ kid form Johnson Central got by with it..once again..See it is still there.

Bullying is so bad there. I skip school sometimes because how bad it is for me. People call me fat, worthless, and more terrible things. I've Cryed so much because the terrible things people say. My parents won't put me on home school. Does not mean because I'm bullied I'm going to shoot up the school it just means I'm going to skip school more.

Well if you want to graduate and get out of JCHS just ignore the idiots and dont let them see you upset. Bullys like that and thats their purpose. Please do not skip enough to fail.. You fail in life if you fail in school on purpose. I know how bad central is and I know how bad some of the teachers are. Hopefully parents can stick together now and stop the mean spirited goings on in the schools. Please stop skipping class

thanks for the support. I don't wanna fail but it's hard to sit around and hear comments about you that's mean and downgrading. They've kinda got better so I don't see a lot of skipping in the future.

Kids will respond more to a kind word and a offer to talk than constantly putting them down like teachers did when I was in school. I have been out of school for over 10 years and to this day I resent a teacher for treating me like I didn't
exist. This teacher would humiliate the ones that was like me that was struggling to understand a subject in her class. I asked her twice about something in two separate days and she sent me to the office and went behind me and told them I was interrupting her class. OMG I was so shy back then and would never interrupt anyone in my life. She actually lied on me. Then on the other hand I had a teacher that I give thanks to this day because she saw I had low self esteem and encouraged me to finish high school and ignore the people who were putting me down.

Now I am a college grad and working in a field that I love. But to this day I think how close this one bad teacher almost caused me to quit school. I say to parents if your kids are not wanting to go to school find out WHY! Yeah it could be a bully but also could be a really bad teacher too.

Paintsville takes bullying very very seriously. To the point of finding bullys and having the principal scare the shit out of them, and threatening to call the police if it doesnt stop. Hence why no freshmen get raped at Paintsville.
