The article is a bit slanted to the left.

1.] "The woman was able to repel the intruder using an ordinary Remington 870 Express 12-gauge shotgun, which would not be banned under the proposed statute. She did not need a military-style weapon with a 30-round magazine." - Are they sure? There are 29 models of the 870 Express. Did the woman use this one? http://www.remington.com/products/firearms/ta...

How about this one? http://www.remington.com/products/firearms/sh... They sure look tactical to me.

2.] "For every instance in which a gun in the home was shot in self-defense, there were seven criminal assaults or homicides, four accidental shootings, and 11 attempted or successful suicides." - Which tells me the Government isn't enforcing their own laws on background checks, learning gun safety isn't a requirement for gun ownership and since suicide is a mental problem, the answer isn't make them choose another way to kill themselves, get them some help.

3.] "In domestic violence situations, the risk of homicide for women increased eightfold when the abuser had access to firearms." - So the answer is to ban guns and not do something about Violence Against Women? Besides, this type of violence is probably hand gun violence, not an AR-15 assault rifle. Oy!

4.] "Further, there was “no clear evidence” that victims’ access to a gun reduced their risk of being killed." - This statement got next to me. No clear evidence. No shit sherlock! Really? How the fck would you put that to the test? Put 50 violent guys with 50 women and give 25 of the women a gun?

5.] "Another 2003 study, by Douglas Wiebe of the University of Pennsylvania, found that females living with a gun in the home were 2.7 times more likely to be murdered than females with no gun at home." - And once more, ban the guns and let the violent guys find another way to kill their women. Doh!

6.] "Regulating guns, on the other hand, can reduce that risk. An analysis by Mayors Against Illegal Guns found that in states that required a background check for every handgun sale, women were killed by intimate partners at a much lower rate. Senator Patrick Leahy, the Judiciary Committee chairman, has used this fact to press the case for universal background checks, to make sure that domestic abusers legally prohibited from having guns cannot get them." - The only statement in the entire article I agreed with.

I asked you to do one little thing, all you had to do was post the security video from the 9/11 pentagon attacks and the closed security from the Sandy Hook shootings and here I find YOU flirting with a transsexual. You men can not be trusted at ALL!

DAYUM!!! I quit this board for a while because it was sooooo boring. When I left, the last thing I read was Ng dising the locals and Gaytor pulling down his pants and showing us how big his I.Q. is. I go off this thing and come back and what do I see? Gaytor pulling down his pants to show off his huge I.Q. and his love muffin dising the poor, unwashed, no toothed, uneducated masses. Get some new material SFBS you are still boring.

Let it also be noted that the first victim of Newtown was Nancy Lanza, a woman who legally owned the guns that were used to murder her.

I will type this slowly in order for you to be able to ingest the information. Not one woman in Paintsville who has one shred of self respect would join you in anything. Keep your Mangina covered a little bit better would you please? I know you're very, proud of it, but It's very ugly.

It's up to you to prove your argument, not me. The rest of your post is telling me your sense of self importance is a bit over inflated.

And I asked the question re: NL already, how were her firearms secured? Not very well evidently or her mentally challenged son would not have been able to access them. It's as simple as a trigger lock and the keys are kept on your person.

The "facts" are facts taken out of context in some instances. ie, women who have guns in the homes are X times more likely to be killed with them. Sounds like some women are in a relationship with a man who is violent and owns a gun. Duh! Banning the gun is going to stop the guy from smacking her ass around or saving her life in some other fashion? Not unless she sews his bed sheet over his ass while he's asleep and takes a baseball bat to him it won't. Or better yet, report him and get out of the relationship.

Taking my guns does nothing for these women whatsoever. And to repeat myself, whether or not someone feels I don't need a particular gun is moot considering it's none of their business. I'm also not the guy beating the crap out of my woman or putting a gun to her head.

Yes, the libs are just as guilty of fudging facts as the conservatives are.

"Taking my guns does nothing for these women whatsoever"

Might do something for the women in your life...
The women in your life are much more likely to be killed by your guns, than your guns are able to save them..
Those are the facts....

I beg to differ. When my gun/s aren't holstered with the safety on, they are locked. If any of my guns are drawn, they are pointed at the ground or whatever I intend to shoot and the safety isn't released until I'm ready to pull the trigger.

Gun ownership is my right. It's indelible. I'll exercise it and defend it.

...and the facts say you or someone near you are more likely to suffer for it compared to those who choose not to own a gun.

Those are irrefutable facts. And I could give a rats arse if you like to play shoot 'em up with your little boy toys. But I do get offended when Barney's like you (or those who have access to your guns) use guns to kill innocents (ie children).

You can say until the cows come home how sane you are, but the mother of the shooter in CT would have said the same thing.

Take my guns dose do as much for some women as men and a woman is likey to be killed by his guns I don't think so . Most women in Ky. that have guns in the house are likely to use them . I can out shoot my husband with the hand guns . I don't think a gun ever got up and shot anyone, the possesor has to make the decision to shoot . Some times the stupidity on here just floors me . Just because you don't like guns don't mean everone dose . If you ever learned to use one correctly you would not be afraid of it .

Just go back and read the article, comprehend it, and think about it...it's written in a style that you could understand.

Guns are anti-wonen..simple as that.

Like one author said, it's OK for women to have guns..just keep them out of the hands of men (tongue in cheek of course)

Do these "facts" take into account the amount of safety practiced or are they just numbers? I'll wager they're numbers.

I'm not apt to shoot up a bunch of little kids and unless someone can get the trigger lock keys off of me neither is anyone else. They would also have to get the keys for the ammo case as well. What offends me is being lumped into the same category as the mentally challanged boy that shot the school up, the Aurora theater, the mall, colleges, Columbine all the way back to the water tower and postal days. Since I'm now a Barney, may I point out you've now resorted to name calling. Out of ammo are we?

Of course she could. She was the sane one. Her son was the one with the mental problems and shot the school up,,, not her. Instead of spending time learning how to aim, she should have learned something about these inventions called safes, trigger locks and ammo boxes.
