To the homeless in Hawaii, bad as it is your not shivering in below freezing conditions, like some folks in Portland Oregon, there are very few shelters for people here, i see vast numbers of homeless people wandering the streets with no shelters available.

To Mr. Willes K. Lee, Chairman of the Republican Party;Voting Republican means several trillion dollars in debt and climbing; voting Republican means that our country is in jeapordy because of what countries OWN THE REBUBLICAN DEBT; voting Republican means that Insurance companies will continue to reap great financial rewards and fewer Americans will have health insurance; voting Republican means that there will be fewer doctors to care for our citizens; voting Republican will mean less money for education of our children; voting Republican will mean that we citizens are less secure; voting Republican will mean WELFARE for the RICH AND CORPORATIONS TO CONTINUE via tax cuts; voting for Republicans will mean more outsourcing of American jobs and tax shelters off shore for the wealthy; voting Republican will mean more death and violence in the world; voting Republican will mean more human rights violations; voting Republican will mean the continuation of the myth of "terrorism" to justify every torture, illegal seizure, and violation of the Geneva Convention and International Law for Human Rights. I am wondering why the Democrats haven't Impeached the violators??? After all it is Congresses Constitutional Duty to Impeach.

I just amazed that the local GOP doesn't have a chairman who can write a more eloquent lettter than that! I am a Dem., and I think I could make a better case for someone to consider voting Republican than that. It's like Ann Coulter's eight year old daughter wrote that.
So much for high debate. And shame on the SB for printing such crap. If your gonna kill trees, make sure its worth it!

It's not "arrogant" to want to live in peace and security, but people are understandably "ashamed," when they stand by doing nothing while innocent people are being abused and killed, thinking that if they just hope for peace, nothing bad can ever happen to them.

The world is a whole lot safer and better place than it was ten years ago -- and that is particularly true of Hawaii, which many have already forgotten was the place people were leaving in droves, and the previous role of the governors of Hawaii (and their henchmen), was to convince us that "last" was really "first," and that all the rules in effect all over the world, did not apply because this was "paradise."

It wasn't until President Bush's strong response to terrorism that Hawaii emerged from its decades long plunge into depression -- which we've forgotten already under the Governorship of Linda Lingle.

But those who forget and try to rewrite history, are doomed to repeat it.

Republican's View

1. Win in Iraq (They cannot win a lie-based war)
2. Lower taxes (Bunch of crap. All they do is cut taxes fro the rich & force state & local governments to raise their taxes. Net is a tax increase)
3. Market-driven health care
4. Secure borders (when? They have had control of the House & Senate for many years until the past year. They did absolutely nothing to control the borders)
5. Terrorism is war (Of course the U.S. should combat terrorism. But the U.S. should not disregard the terrorists in Afghanistan & attack countries like Iraq who had nothing to do with the terroristic attacks)

Democrat's View

1. Surrender in Iraq (Set a timetable to get out of Iraq & force the Iraqi government to control their own country. After all, the U.S. invaded Iraq based on lies)
2. Higher taxes (lower taxes for lower & middle class, higher for upper class)
3. Government-run health care (Every legal citizen should have health care.)
4. Open borders (Democrats are for securing the borders)
5. Terrorism is a crime (Democrats understand that, but won't allow terrorists to go free in Afghanistan like Bush did. Bush took the manpower & equipment that had been going after the terrorists & sent them to Iraq based on lies)

Republicans: Vote McCain to bring the Republican party together.
Democrats and Independents: Vote Clinton/Obama to bring the country together.
Simplistic, yes, but so much between the lines...
