Vote by mail, even absentee ballots, leads to abuses. In some of the mainland primaries in the last election, spouses of deceased voters were surprised to be informed that their loved one voted in the last few elections.
This is only as good as the system for finding deceased persons and getting them off the rolls.

I don't understand this guy. Don't they have absentee voting on the island of Maui?
I voted last night on my absentee ballot. Nearly 35% of the final tally of voters now use absentee ballots. It's easy, you register by mail and they send you ballots and return envelopes.
You don't have to give any reason for using the ballot and you get to vote 3 weeks ahead of time. Wow, it's the only way to vote. You just sit at home, make your decisons, blacken the boxes and not worry about whether an electronic voting machine is actually counting your vote.
If you have questions regarding the constitutional amendments or other issues (such as steel on steel) you can call the elections office.
I voted for no incumbents, voted against Palin, and said no to con-con and steel on steel.
Whew! It's over with.
