Jill won because her family basically owns Pahrump. I lived in Pahrump for four years, so trust me, I know. The Wulfensteins own the only paving company in an hours distance. So the only way anyone can pave a parkinglot, driveway, or street is by going to them. The Wulfensteins have the whole town eating out of their overweight hands. That is just the way Pahrump works.
Devin Arceo should have won. I am her best friend (even though I live in Ohio now). I go to her house everytime I go out to see my dad. Her talent was amazing and I know that because i proof-read it for her. Devin is also a gorgeous girl who would represent the shitty town of Pahrump decently.
Bottom-line: Jill Wulfenstein is nice (I was on the track team with her when I was in 7th and she was in 8th) but she ISN'T Miss Pahrump material.

I spent a few days in Pahrump recently. Why are so quick to call the town shitty? I found most of the people I met to be very nice and polite.

I am not going to comment on the Miss Pahrump issue because I know nothing about that.

Because I lived there for four years. You visited for a few days. You saw the surface of things. I'm 15, living there as a 10-14 year old there was nothing to do. Sure, I could go to skate zone. But you can only go and skate around in a circle so many time before you want to shoot yourself. After that I could go and look at the billboards for the brothel museum of the posters of a half-naked lady for the kingdom. So for teens, yeah, it is shitty. Adults and those who are retired will probably like it.

Thanks...I should have taken your age into account. I bet it was real real crappy for you. I am trying to get as many opinions about Pahrump as I can because I might indeed retire there. Won't be for a while though...by the time I do retire, the traffic will probably be bad. There will probably be 60,000 people there too.

Congradulations to Jill, Miss Pahrump and I really feel sorry for kids like you. Poor baby-nothing to do ,what a terrible attitude. I raised two kids in Pahrump when they did not have anything at all. They had pets, they adventured outdoors . They built things including helping build a house. They made gardens, went bowling and out with friends. They loved hiking in the wide open. They did not do sports but liked paintball outings. They enjoyed life.Yea and the brothel signs never bothered any body-Who cares?? Their are thousands of signs all over town that most people ignore unless it pertains to YOU. I did move them to Las Vegas for a short time so they could have the advantage of the big city. They did not like it at all. They both are very sucessful young people and yes they now do love the big city, but when you asked them why they turned out so well it is because they discovered themselves in Pahrump!! Bloom where you are Planted!

I think I would have enjoyed being in a small town when I was growing up. I was born and raised in Stockton, a city of some 240,000 now. Had about 60,000 in it when I was very young.

I would have liked to have the open country at my doorstep like your kids had in Pahrump. I still like to hike and explore. I heard there is a hot spring to the west of town up in the mountains...that would be cool to visit too.

And when do you raise them? I am sure that Pahrump was different ten, fifteen, twenty, or thirty years than it is now. Now Nye county is the meth house capital of America and basically the only place in America were selling you body is 100% legal.
Pahrump is not a place I wanted myself, my two younger sisters, or any other child to grow up. I'm just not a fan. It is a nice place to visit, but living there for me is a whole different story.
Anyway, it is a nice place to retire for some people. My Dad is friends with many people who did retire there. Some love the idea of having plenty of your own land, not having to mow your grass or shovel snow. Hell, you can even have some horses. Others want to be back in the city, mountains, or wherever else they came from.

We're raising 2-teen boys here in Pahrump. They're MUCH too busy with school, band, their PT jobs, baseball, and my garden to get too bored in this "two-stop-light" town. They were asked last month if they wanted to move - they thought Mom and Pop had grown a second head - Pahrump is the center of their Universe, and, the nicest place to grow tomatoes, cukes, zucchinni, peppers, all squash, berries, and melons in my garden. Lets not mention the clearest, cleanest, coolest water 140 feet below the home here too! BTW, Congrats Jill!

I heard your water comes from a hot spring west of town. Up high on the mountain ridge. And that there is an almost endless supply of it too.

In fact Pahrump means "water rock"...is this true?

That IS in fact what Pahrump means. The water actually comes from a deep aquifer below the valley here. Fed by water runoff for centuries from the surrounding mountains.

BTW,even if I had many $$$ I still couldn't "buy a pageant" with my teenage boys.

Even a small town breeds hate, like we see above. Sad.

Your jealousy is showing by the very nature of your remarks.
