I am glad they caught this evil guy. He deserves a life sentence for the murder of an elderly person and a nun at that. The Navajo Nation justice system does not care about this individual. They only care about federal officers taking care of business that they can't take care of themselves. The word "quash" is ridiculous to use initially in a nationally televised murder case such as this. The Navajo courts are kangaroo courts that can't hold their own when it comes to justice. Besides the attorney's are of low level intelligence and they manage to embarrass themselves as well as the tribe. They need to stick to DUI cases.

This is heinous crime in which the tribe needs to assist in whatever way they can and not try to get in the way. THat being said, there are procedures that the FBI should follow. If they are not the screw-ups that have been portrayed as then they are to blame. I dont think following procedures is anything new and I am sure or I hope all procedures were followed so that this murderer gets his!

I wonder why the Navajo nation goes out of its way to protect tribe members from state and federal authorities. Remember Lloyd Larson, the guy who had nine or ten DWIs when he killed four people while driving drunk in a government vehicle. His native american superiors knew about his history and did nothing to protect the public.

The Navajo D.A. is show-boating with this case. After she learned that the Federal Government could over-rule and supercede the Navajo nation's constitution and have this individual face federal charges she used the "oh the poor Navajos were conquered and have no recourse but to turn him over to Federal Government to face murder charges. She was shooting off several lame excuses why the Federal Government could not take jurisdiction.....

...for you pinhead Dineh, read the comment section on this same news account in Albuquerque at http://www.krqe.com/dpp/news/crime/death-pena...

It seems our own Navajo law enforcement has allowed the FBI's bullying until the FBI met the new chief prosecutor, Bernadine Martin.

I just hope they don't use culture as an excuse to let this weenie out of the death penalty. I loathe it when they do that.

What would the attitude be in this discussion had the killer been of another race? Killers come in all races.

Well it doesnt look like culture will be an excuse as the tribe sometime in the past voted to not allow the death penalty for its members by federal prosecutors. Carroll will not get the death penalty but may get life in prison.

What's even more disgusting is that Martin is still trying to get custody of this turd! Why would we want him here? What jail will hold him for life? How will this happen? I can see obtaining more funding for jails and detention facilities--possible using this as leverage but the tribe needs to build jails first! Be sensible and leave him in federal custody Martin!

When Bernadene Martin leaves her post as Navajo Tribal Prosecutor or 'gets reassigned"....she make a 'great' private attorney with the likes of those Law Firms so prevalent in/around the Navajo Trial Lawyers Association. Since she has a leg on what Navajo Nation cant do and tries to do....she have a leg up on making big dollars for these law firms.

THe Navajo law system is outdated and only the private attorneys are benifiting on this inept system....'of justice'.

American Indian Law is big business if your a non-indian attorney (while friends with the FEderal law system) if your looking to make ends meet!

Daily Horoscope for December 23

Aries

Don't get embroiled in a bad-tempered skirmish today, for it might turn into more than that if you aren't careful. Everyone seems to be ratty and argumentative, but once you let the first spat take place it's effectively declaring open season. Even though things seem out-of-joint, keep your lines of communication open.
