He will be remembered - RIP. He was a perfect Gov when compared to Richardson.

"Happy trails, Bruce, you, Cowboy casanova....

I think what made him so different is that New Mexico was IT for him. He didn't have any national objectives. |

Bruce King was a good and great man. He was maybe the best governor we ever had. He did a lot for New Mexico and he and Alice were well loved. Blessings on the King family...

Very sorry to hear this. He was a good governor and he truly only desired the best for New Mexico. He and Alice always were so honorable in their conduct.
We have been so lucky to call them our own. My condolences to the King family. |

Good point. He was a pretty down-home kinda guy. Like him or not, I firmly believe his heart was in NM. |

Bruce and Alice were honest, sincere and kind hearted folks. I was amazed at how he always remembered my first name even though I was not a politico insider. I was having lunch at cafe in Taos, and had not seen him for several years, when he came in unannounced shaking hands with everyone and greeted me by my first name.
I really liked the time he was quoted in the press about some issue that was going to "open a whole box of Pandoras" or something like that. He came off to some as being an ignorant cowboy, but he was actually a pretty bright business man and Governor. |

I have known Bruce and Alice King for over 30 years and I have never met two finer people than they were. Honest, up front, tell it like it is kind of people and neither one was afraid to tell you what they thought about any subject that may arise.
Like you Lobo I found his ability to remember faces and names astounding. I could be gone for months on end of a project, come home for a break and go to the El Commedor for Saturday morning coffee and if the Governor stopped by, like he usually did, he would know who I was without hesitation. And most times he would invite a few of us locals to his table, Governor or not he had his own table at the Commedor, just to cuss and discuss what was going on in our state. Lobo said it first and he is right. Bruce King may have acted and talked some old cowboy just off the range but it was just that, an act. He was one of the most intelligent and insightfull men I have ever met. Rest in Peace Governor, you will be remembered by all. |

2 Bruce King had more character and integrity in his little pinky than you will ever have in your entire body. |
