Just another example of mccracken county board of education and queen waldrop thinking they are above reproach. People, wake up and vote these assholes off the school board. Instead of being concerned about the students safety, they seem more concerned about their image and what is made public. This teacher needs to get a good lawyer and sue these tyrants for violating her rights and also for discrimination.

I don't think she would have a leg to stand on in a discrimination case. She wasn't discriminated against...at least not based on an illegal form of discrimination.

As I recall, right after the letter and the story broke, the sheriff's dept. went to the school to meet with the teacher, the letter writer, and school administrators. The cops initially played it off like 'we already know all about this incident; you might as well just tell us the names of those involved.' Well, the teacher and letter writer more-or-less said, "If you already know everything, why are we here?" It seems like both the sheriff's dept. and school admin. were posturing, bluffing, and trying to cover their asses all at the same time. I hope everything finally comes out in the open!

there is so much more that goes on. I wonder why the parents did not have a meeting with the administration and the sheriffs dept. before they let their children back in the school. why didn't that get addressed. People these are your kids are you going to not want a meeting with sheriff yourself. why didnt waldrop call all the parents to the school and inform them of what was going on. these are you kids you can ask questions. really...

WPSD was not the only one who reported the situation had already been investigated. West KY Star also reported that. And they are not owned by PMG. I don't believe everything I hear from any news source, especially WPSD, but West KY Star actually does report facts most of the time, without a bias.[/QUOTE]

West Kentucky Star has no reporters. They just take what is in other media (WPSD, Paducah Sun and press releases) and put it on their radio and website.

Not true! How is it that they are the first ones to report on something most of the time?! How is it that they have more information then the other news sources?! Go recheck your comment.

You have right to free speech ON YOUR OWN TIME! Not my time! I pay your salary to teach my kids. Not to help my child write a letter to the media about something that has already been addressed. And even if it hasn't been, then the appropriate school personnel should have been notified. Not the idiots at the Paducah Sun. Also, when I go to my work, I can't just say what I want to. If I do then I could be fired. But according to you that is my free right. I have news for you, when you go to work, your employer is paying you to do a job. Your employer "owns" your time for the entire duration that they are paying you for. You don't have "freedom of speech" when you are at work. Exercise that right when you leave. And in some circumstances you still have to be careful not to misrepresent your employer because they can still fire you even if it was done on your time. So y'all get off this freedom of speech bs. If you want the ability to say what you want when you want, then go own your own business and make your own rules. Until then, you have rules.

Since some of you seem to know a lot about this letter, I take it you were part of this investigation. Did you bother to check out the game the kids said it was about? Does it match their story?

Jojo, no one took weapons. All this brewhaha has been over a video game. I feel sorry for they naive student who was coerced into writing the letter to the Sun. Noone is talking about the effects this is having on him/her.

You have no idea how much deeper this goes or all that is involved. Have you seen the the sheriff's reports? There were several reports concerning this and the teacher did go to the administration and nothing was done. She and others at the school were turned away with their concerns. The video game excuse is a scam. All the kids know about that game excuse called 'Minecraft.' it's no big thing and can't be to blame. Kids are laughing at this excuse!!! This is a sad situation of power. This teacher is a good teacher and a great volunteer in her community and she is being punished for standing up for students. What if she didn't do anything and something awful happened and that was found out after the fact? Would she be punished then too? It's too bad ALL of the TRUTH can't come out on this one. It's a bunch of bull!

This comment is so ignorant! I agree with her being fired and I am 100 percent the opposite on all the other issues you posted. Lets just think about it for a second... If you were really concerned about student safety you would NOT talk a child into writing a letter to the NEWSPAPER and wait for it to finally arrive there and see if they print it! Go to the principal, school board, and other teachers. Still worried go straight to the cops. Encourage this child to go to their parents... Hell have a meeting with them and the student. The teacher did nothing heroic. She encouraged a kid to write a letter she didn't do it herself and she basically taught the
Child to have no faith in authorities and that a ranting letter that they hoped would be published was the right path to take. Come on this teacher made a really poor and immature decision.

To the last poster... You obviously didn't read the sheriff's reports. There was more than one! And did you see the Editor's letter today in the paper? It is not fair what happened to this teacher. Check your facts before you judge. What if she knew something and didn't speak up and there was violence? She would have been fired then too. She was damned if she did and damned if she didn't. It is truly not fair what they have done to her.
