Many Kids will not eat the nasty crap they serve for school lunch. For years they ate the school lunches until the new Obama regulations were put in place.

The new Obama regulations are leading to kids not eating at school. Next term, if they win Michelle Obama plans to go after grocery stores like she did the school lunch programs. Fat kids may lose weight, but skinny kids are losing weight too.

Somebody tell the Obamas to stay out of our local business (like our school lunch programs) and to tend to the National interest like doing something about the people that want us and Israel dead.

Yes, today's Americans are unable to manage their own lives and their own bodies. We desperately need the government to take the place of the Traditional Values that American's used to have.

America is no longer a Traditional Family based Christian society with the will to succeed on our own.

I'm glad they are replacing good sense and good judgment with government regulations. what used to be American Values will become American Regulation. Both ways are basically the same.

I can't wait to see foods with sugar, fat and salt made illegal. How about regulating cable TV and the internet too, then Americans would have to get in shape. Today's Americans are incapable of making good choices and we can't pay for healthcare for people who can't manage their own bodies. Go Bama!!!

I'm not sure that I'm entirely ready to give up any more of my "freedom". Ever read "1984" by George Orwell? Might make you change your view on this.

In a quasi-related thought...
There are kids who don't get to eat much at all. I've seen them firsthand. It's sad. Just because you don't like what's being served, consider yourself lucky to be served food at all. In the real world, it just doesn't happen like this.

She needs to do something about her own caboose before she starts on our kids. Have you seen the photo of the first ladies of France, Italy and the US going up.some steps? The other 2 have nice slim rear ends . Obama's rear looks like the north end of a mule going south. She is an embarrassment to the US.

she relates well to big rear ended people and feels a need to control their diet with government regulations.

If most Americans still had traditional values and the moral judgement needed to manage their own lives, then Obama would not be ahead in the polls. It would not be close because of his poor record. Most Americans are apparently against success achieved by hard work and for Obama's redistribution of wealth and cradle to grave management of our lives.

Obama supporters recognize that Today's Americans need Federal guidance and regulation to help manage their lives and big government unions to protect their jobs.

The masses of people can't live off a few successful people for long. Printing money causes inflation which is schedule to hit even bigger in 2013. Federal control of school lunch is one more example of Obama control.

About five years ago, when I was still in school, lunch was SO BAD!! They had a whole entire extra's window that had snacks like sodas, candy bars, snack cakes, stuff like that. Now, that was just inhibiting the problem even more. It was because, the lunches back then were terrible, like pizza, pastas, breaded "meat like products", frozen fruits, overly buttered/salted vegetables... and alot of the meal was CARBS after CARBS. It just makes no sense to me! Although, the way kids are fed at HOME also contributes to the obsesity rates being high in young children.

I seriously doubt that kids have been getting fat from eating school lunches, now or then.

You may be able to eat lunch with your children at school. I've done it before. Call the school to find out.

My kids come home with headaches and say they didn't eat anything all day at school. They have to sneak snacks to keep from feeling sick at school.

The Obama plan might sound like a good plan to some people but it is really not working out for us.

It would be better if the schools could control their own lunch programs instead of Michelle Obama.

Considering that candy and sodas can not be sold in schools that is not true. Candy and soda are not allowed to be sold during school hours as this is due to Federal Food Laws.
The Healthy Snack Standards for Foods and Beverages at School (2005) requires schools to restrict student access to concessions, extra sales, vending, and fundraisers during the meal period. In elementary and middle schools, all fronts of vending machines must picture water or fruit juice products. Candy and sodas can be sold immediately after school from a vedning machine and schools have vending machines on a timer that will not allow sales until after school. I am not sure if you went to a school here in Paducah or somewhere else but all states have the same rules and regulations and can be penalized by the Federal Government.

Ehhhh...
I don't think it's the carbs. It's the lack of activity. Look at me. I'm GLUED to topix all day, and I'm a fatass. There is a direct correlation.
Still, I dont think the "gubment" needs to legislate how or what we eat. At the cost of sounding paranoid, what if they're trying trying to develop some master race to take on the impending attacks from (insert scary group here).
Also, the more control we give the gubment, the less control we have. I'm starting to think that's been planned.
My two cents. Ya get what ya pay for.

Maybe we need better cooks. You can make low-fat, healthy food that tastes good but our lunch people have not been trained and are pissed that instead of just waiting for the pizza delivery they actually have to do something. So stop blaming Michelle for trying to eliminate the Honey Boo-Boo's of the world.

No they allowed candy and snack cakes to be sold during lunch called "extras". Also there was a couple of soda machines around the school also.

The children of today are heavier than ever. I remember when i was in school there were only a few fat kids and they got made fun of. Now they dont get made fun of because 75% of the population is fat. Im tired of seeing fat kids, its the parents fault. They dont care enough to watch what the kids eat. Im happy that the schools are having to restructure the lunch programs. If the parents dont do it at home then thankfully the schools are having to.

I loved hearing a mom complain that the portions were going to be cut in half and their kids were gonna starve. Well then pack a lunch for them fatty. This was coming from a fat mom. Kids learn from parents, lets do something as parents. Anyone can be fat, the thin people have to watch what they eat. Your not thin from eating whatever you want and biggie sizing everything.

federal law does not prohibit this. My child gets extras at school during lunch and they also get coke break privileges as well.

. I agree. I have never seen anyone such as purplelady who is such a know it all who knows nothing. My children also get extras. They also have coke breaks but I don't allow them to have high fructose corn syrup because your body doesn't know how to convert it to glucose in the liver. If they had sugar sodas I would allow that. My children are lean. I am lean. We don't diet. We are just in charge of our own lives and don't need a big butt first ladies interference.

I know that PTHS does not sell sodas and the machines are on timers. If you don't believe me call the school, the extras they are allowed are a cookie. They do nit sell snack cakes and have no candy vending machines. I can't speak for the other high schools. If you think I am telling tales come to PTHS and walk the halls. My last kid graduated in 2010. I may be a know it all but try researching the laws and look up under KRS the food laws pertaining to schools that is what I did.
