Anyone been before? Got an anniversary on Monday and Cynthia's is closed. Would like a "nice" place, which I realize is a stretch in Paducah, but their website makes the place at least look decent. Any thoughts or other suggestions?

Does is ok. Overpriced for what you get though. Goto a good butcher and cook your own, if you know anything about grilling at all, you'd cut your expense by half. They reflect prices of steakhouses in NYC, and are nOt even in that caliber. Max's is a great place to go, many choses on the menu. Shandies is a good place as well, like there wine and food selections. You can dine outside there like Cynthia's and people watch, which On the right evening can be entertaining!!

Max's is very good. Doe's and JP's are also quite good. JP's and Max's both have beautiful outdoor dining. I don't much care for Shandies though.

I agree that I don't care for Shandie's, their menu was nothing special, but just my opinion. Max's is very good and has everything from steaks to pasta (and their Maker's Mark Chocolate Cake is to DIE for) and Restaurante de Fratelli's is very good and has a great ambience if your looking for fresh homemade italian (Lobster Ravioli.....YUM). I also like Doe's. We eat there quite regularly and can get out for less than $60 for a HUGE steak with sides and salad (and usually a beer and glass of wine). Prices are no more expensive than one of the Mall chains if you know that the steaks are sized to share. Hope you have a great anniversary wherever you choose!

The service at Doe's is normally terrible, or at least it always has been for us. They overbook reservations and when you show up your table can take up to an hour. Additionally, they try and have a "Band" (a guy playing a guitar and a girl singing) and its loud and intrusive not to mention the room it takes up in an already small bar and restaurant. The food is OK but over priced for what you get. They do have THICK steaks but there's more to a good steak then just being thick. Additionally, the manager there as WELL as the wait staff have TERRIBLE attitudes and look at people standing and waiting on tables as a bother instead of an opportunity.

Back you your original q (sorry for the rant) yes, Max's is a very nice place to eat. The service is normally good, a good wine list, the menu is complete, the specials are always well prepared and taste good, portions are never skimped on. Also, the outside seating is very nice as well as is the bar.

Happy Anniversary! Enjoy your meal and night out where ever you choose to eat!

Max's is a wonderful place. Great atmosphere, wonderful food, and great service. I go there all the time. The most important aspect is their consistency. It is always wonderful.

Max's is good but waaaay too pricey for what it is. JP's is good also and more reasonable. Shandies, overpriced.
