8 million dollars? You gotta be kidding! Think of all the things 8 million could do for this area. Please don't use my tax money for this !

Not even if they sold meth, and gave away 100 dollar bills.

Sure is sad they can find $8 million dollars to restore but can't bring jobs here, put food in food pantries, or help the homeless! Sheesh!

They said $6-8 millions. But some would come from Grants. Like someone stated, It would pay for itself.

I would like to see it restored but is this going to make our taxes go up so they can restore it. Does the city own this or a private person? I saw on the news where Paducah Renaissance Alliance and the city want to do this but I bet taxes would have to be raised in order to fund that which is covered by grants. I agree MsMichelle2001, that money could have helped homeless people, the food pantries and countless other service agencies that could use the money but they couldn't get jobs here.

Why would they use it when they have a newer one at the mall?

Paducah officials are totally clueless, this is a small town with lots of serious needs, stop blowing money to impress someone, you dont have it to blow. 65% of the area are living paycheck (if any) to paycheck, all the big houses and fine cars are nothing but smoke and mirrors. Get real Paducah.

I agree. You can count the wealthy families in Paducah on 2 hands. Very sad the number of working families who hardly have anything at all. Smoke and mirrors is rite!

And by the way, where do you think grant money comes from? The money fairy? Tax payers!
Yep

Kinda like these people who "go back to school", stay long enough to get the "grant" then either show up just to say they did or stop going at all. Sickening & pathetic!

Alot of it would come by Ticket sales through the years. Food & Drinks included. 8 Millions is not that much in the long run, But personally i don't think it would cost that much. I would like to see it come back to Life.

Total agreement on that. I don't see how it would repay the money in ticket sales, food and drinks and all that unless they are going to charge something like $20.00 for a ticket. I would like to see it rebuilt but I bet the taxpayers would be the one footing the bill on it all.

Man, you have no idea. 8 million is impossible to make up for a single screen theatre.

You are living on hope, not facts. Tear that old stuff down and get over it.

Maybe, but I know a lot about paying in to the Feds. That gravy you are referring to is still tax payer money. Even worst, since we are way in debt, it is a new 8 million dollar loan taken out in your and my name. One that I didn't get a chance to opt out of ant that my kids will have to pay back.

No thanks
