WKCTC has a wonderful nursing program which is why they have 100's of students apply every year and only take about 60 or less. It's also why employers in this area would rather hire students who graduated from WKCTC than anywhere else. One reason the students are so good is because their teachers care so much. Once you graduate from nursing school you won't have much of a problem finding a job, they need nurses everywhere. I think bulls must have failed out of WKCTC or didn't get excepted at all because he/she obviously knows nothing about the teachers or the program.

Are you talking about the RN program's med/surg class? We have different faculty than you all do so I'm not sure if you are talking about points being added to LPN or RN students, but I know we lost 6 people last semester and a bunch that were close, but I know they didn't add points to anyone's grade because for one, we are all pretty close and share our grades with one another and we all know what the person needs to make on the final to pass the class and two, one of our teachers very favorite students happen to be one of those 6 and if they were going to give points to anyone it would have been her.

Nursing isn't a program that is going to pass mediocre students onto a profession that cares for sick people. I know I wouldn't want a flunkie to administer an IV to me. The program is stringent, the expectations are high and the dedication is paramount. As for the jobs, they're out there, maybe not here in Paducah but they are out there...look on any employment website.
Blaming the teachers is irresponsible, aiming for a 75 should be a badge of shame not a medal of pride for a professional Nurse. Make no mistake I'm not judging anyone but if you failed to make the cut, there is a reason. I'm so tired of people not taking responsibity for their own behaviors and expecting someone to give them a free pass.
I expect flak for this post so bring it.

I couldn't agree more! Except it's a 77 to pass... and I got my first C (an 81... gotta have a 85 for B) last semester in our 3rd semester med/surg nursing class and I wanted to cry. I take every class and test very seriously because I want to know everything I can before stepping out on that floor as an RN and being responsible for patients in my care. I know I'll never know everything there is to know about nursing and even after I've been one for 20 years I'll still learn something new everyday probably but you better believe I'll be doing my best everyday to learn new things. I don't know who that person is saying that points were added to some peoples grades so they could pass, but I know for an absolute fact that it's FALSE! At least for the RN program.. She may have been talking about LPN for which I have no knowledge but would assume it would still be false. Dean G would never allow it.

Just because you believe you know more and are helping others with thier homework doesn't mean that you have the requisite scores and classes to get in. You have to have a "minimum" score (a culmination of alot of different scores) to be considered, but only those that have points above and beyond the "minimum" are considered in the selection process. Don't get frustrated, just keep trying, and please don't degrade the system just because it didn't go your way...the selection process is very competitive and only about 12 - 20% of the applicants get selected each convening date. Keep at it.

And as for LPN's...no they don't get a free pass if you don't make the cut...if you don't get the grade you don't get the pin...period!

Really? You're asking why it's so hard... to become a healthcare worker?

You stupid idiot. It's so hard because they're trying to screen out idiots like you from having responsibility for the health and LIFE of other PEOPLE.

Sterilize yourself, you moron. If you're in the nursing program and spell like a retarded monkey, I hope they weed you out quickly.

look here you stupid bitch you sound so retarded talking about I need to sterilize myself plz u probably so dirty no sterilization process would get u clean, so for one I was talking about a job in general and I was discussing how hard it is to get into the nursing program when there shortages everywhere. I am a healthcare worker now and I have saved lives I am very compassionate about my job which with ur attitude u wouldnt even know the definition of the word. So before u use ur opinion on a topic look at the whole picture not just ur reflection.
