Ingram hires inexperienced deck hands. When i was a Mate, I actually preferred a green deck hand because you didn't have to try to "unteach" habits picked up at other companies. That said, if you have a less than stellar work history, or little experience doing manual labor, the odds aren't in your favor.

Will ingram hire someone that hasnt worked in 8 years with no deckhand experience? Have done roofing for a few summers and lawn work before in the past. And does anyone know how much james marine or tvt start deckhands out at?

No matter how badly you need work or want to work lunch bucket boats,I'd advise you to stay away from James Marine.Biggest bunch of backstabbing jackwagons I ever worked with and for.
If you are used to hard work, the river can be good. You're out in all weather conditions except heavy storms and the pay is good,if you're on a line boat. It's hit or miss with harbor outfits.
Downside,if you get hurt OJT,it's a real bitch getting more than maintenance and cure from them.If you have to resort to a lawyer, you can count on not working in that harbor again and having to really look to find an outfit wh will hire you after you have to sue a company.

It's not for me to say whether a company would or wouldn't hire a female but any person looking looking for a job a any boat company the main thing they're gonna care about is for you to have you're twic card and to pass this physical assessment there are women that work out here so any things possible just have to meet the requirements!!!

Sad to say its dumb asses like that thinking talking and sometimes hooking up with those women! That make are gonna make it hard for you to make it anywhere in this industry unless you wanna be a cook that is! Again it can be possible just hard! Don't listen to tvt guy sounds like a douche and I've worked their before not to bad but I'm at Crounse now and if you can make it to Ingram or Crounse you'll be much much happier trust me!!!
