I am looking for anew Dr in Paducah. I have serious back trouble. I go to Pain Mgt to Dr Malla My regular dr is Bassi. He doesn't seem to really listen to me anymore. I need my Dr to listen to me!! So I am on the look out for a nice qualified Dr who listens and understands me the patient. I am not looking for more drugs I already take enough of that. I have good insurance as well. Thanks in advance!

Not really. But Bassi is just not working for me anymore. I don't know just not feeling him for some reason. Dr Malla is a smart azz most of the time. But I can't be without my medications so I keep going. My back injury and 6 surgeries has kept me in pain for 15 years now.

Funny, that you say Dr. Bassi is not working for you anymore because I go to him and I have never had a problem with him listening to me. He saved my husband's life last week, and put him in the hospital for a simple infection that could have turned deadly. I know several people who go to him and they all praise him. I think you are wanting more pills and he refuses to give them to you or possibly does not want to do a dangerous surgery. If you have had 6 surgeries than this is something more serious than Bassi wants to do.

I also have a problem with Dr. Bassi. Seems like the name of the game is, how quick can I get this patient out of my office. He DOES NOT want to listen to my problems!!! Dr. Snell cared!

If dr malls is a "smart ass" and dr bassi "isn't working for you", then it sounds to me that they aren't giving you what you want and that pisses you off. Just saying....

First of all I said I already take enough medication which was given to me by Dr Bassi. Now understand I have had 6 neck/back surgeries due to a horrific car wreck 15 years ago. When one fusion would take one or two would bulge and break on top or below that. I went from being in a wheelchair to a walker to a cane and now praising God I can walk freely!!! So don't YOU tell me a thing!!! I live a life of hell daily of pain and depression. I have not ask for anything new for several years from either Dr. I am just asking for a pinion on new Dr because I feel that we have become friends and he can't see beyond that to treat me any longer. He does not always know best!!! Dr Snell was a wonderful Dr. I am glad your husband turned out fine and you should be praising God for it. Do please don't be so judgemental in my case. I AM NOT ASKING NOR HAVE I ASKED FOR MORE OF ANYTHING THANK YOU!!!!!

Dr malla is a pain dr and knows better than any other about people dealing with pain. He sees them every day. If you were referred to dr malla and you see him, then it's very likely that dr bassi isn't going to give you anything for pain because dr malla is. That is the purpose of being referred to pain mgmt. So asking both drs for Meds is dr shopping and furthermore, you would be under contract.

I totally agree with that and also the new laws that have come out is very strict about the medication refills. Dr. Bassi listens, but he sent you to Dr. Malla for your pain and you need to be talking to him about this. Dr. Bassi is very cautious about the medication that he prescribes due to all the doctors being in trouble for doctor shopping and getting prescriptions. Sorry, you don't like him but I think he is doing the best that he can for you and you just aren't happy with the answers that you are getting.

I know what dr shopping is and I am not doing that. You don't seem to understand my position. I am not asking for more meds. I just want another opinion for something totally different rom the pain. Issue!!!! You are all making me out to be doing something that I am not doing.

They're pissed they can't get any and just assuming you're in the same boat as they are. It's pitiful, they're in the same league with people I know that know what day I get MY PRESCRIPTIONS filled. Then they act all butthurt when I don't just hand them out like candy on Halloween, same scenario here.

These people are idiots . They act as if they can read a post and discern the person's character . I don't take pain medication , but he had prescribed an anti anxiety drug which was the only thing I took and when I got my prescrition filled he had cut it in half. He didn't discuss it or tell me he was doing it . I have quite literally been going through hell and I feel like he won't even refill this again. I don't have pain so I can't go to pain management . They wouldn't prescribe anti anxiety medicine . My panic attacks have rebounded and are worse than before . I can not leave my house . I can't even grocery shop . I just wished he had helped me safely, slowly stop them.

I don't take any medication so that is way off base. But the harping on Bassi about him not listening is way off base. I have a feeling that you probably don't even talk to him and just expect him to know what is wrong.

I am not saying this will work but you could try this and see. Have you tried talking to Dr. Bassi, I mean when he comes in to see you, say look this and this and this is going on with me and I need to know what can be done about it or I am going to go find another doctor who will listen. You may have tried this and it didn't work but it is worth a shot. I go to Dr. Bassi and I have never had a problem with him listening to me but then I am not on the level of pain that you are talking about and don't take any medications for pain but just thyroid.

I just find it funny that you have problems with 2 doctors and now want a 3rd. If that dr doesn't tell you or give you what you want then you will have some other excuse and want a 4th opinion. And repeat the cycle again. A pain management dr is going to be your best bet unless you see a surgeon. And chances are, most drs won't take new "pain patients" just sayin...... That is why they refer them PMC. if the dr thought he could help you then he would. That's why he referred you.

Thanks for all your input. I will just go on and stay with Bassi since you all think I am looking fit something else other than what I already take. You are way off base. But thanks for you words. Blessings to all!

I am treated by dr malla, I have been dealing with back pain for a very long time. The treatments and medication that I receive help me tremendously. I am not a criminal. I don't and have never doctor shopped. I take my medication exactly the way I'm supposed to. I work a very physical job and have worked a long time. Never have I or will I ever flunk a urine test. I don't drink alcohol, or take any kind of illegal or street drugs. Every time I go into see dr malla I can never tell how he is going to respond to my needs. Some times he is very receptive and other times I feel like he is treating me like a criminal. I've worked in the medical feild as well as been a patient . I do not try to argue with him. Although I do take up for my self and I do tell him exactly what is hurting. I understand the pressure of medicine and all that comes with that. I don't REALY care if he is in a bad mood . All I care about is that he treats me for what I'm there for so I can function and go to work and try to live a normal life. He is ultimately selling a service. That I or my insurance pay for. Usually if I'm not satisfied with the service I'm being provided , I go somewhere else . All I'm sayn is up till this point he has done his job. As long as I continue to be satisfied with the service I'm receiving . I will stay there no matter what kind of mood he is in. We are all human and we are not always in a good mood. What I am dissatisfied with is that what works for me the government is trying to take away . Is there anything being done to distinguish between the people that are good hard working citizens that don't abuse there meds. And the criminals that need to be dealt with?. Or are we just screwed ?
Nope
