Someone pls tell us what is going on here. Lauren Adams from channel 6 would be good. I've heard lots of rumors but a good reporter like her needs to tackle it and let us know the truch.

Don't think it actually helps anyone. People do it because they are court ordered to do so thats the only reason they do it. If they are trying to improve their situation then this program takes time away from working looking for a job or schooling its a pain in the you know what and cost money people dont have an serves no useful purpose at all. So come to your own conclusion about it being a rip off or not.

About 8 yrs ago I got hit by some dumbass who was driving without ins. Blah Blah Blah, she was finally ordered to pay me $1,500 in restitution & go through Crossroads. I received 2 pymts totaling $75.

I reported it MANY times to Crossroads & the county attorney that she wasn't paying & the said they couldn't do anything about it... WTH?!?!?

And she missed a lot of her Crossroads appts with no repercussions. Guess it worked for her!

After court fines, restitution, and all court cost are paid, that's not enough...there's Crossroads that will demand a payment of $25-30 per visit, if not paid, guess what, they throw u in jail, legal extortion, only McCracken County, no other county, or parish, in the nation does this. If its so legal, why doesn't everyone do it?

Crossroads is a much needed program in our community. It is there to assist you in getting your life straight and back on track. If you do not take advantage of your time there and use the tools and information offered to you it is no ones fault but your own. JUst because something is court ordered does not mean it is punishment. If you go with that mindset then you are cheating yourself. Look at it for what it is, an opportunity to better yourself and situation. Be thankful that Crossroads is there.

Crossroads was based on a decent premise. The problem is that it is no longer assigned just for drugs, they use it for anything they want at this point. They can violate you over anything and each violation earns them a hundred dollars. Then they put you in jail where the county gets state and federal money for having you locked up. It's a money mill.
A deputy I know said that even the police officers are getting fed up with locking people up simply because they don't have the money to pay crossroads. They have a petition going around in the law enforcement community to have it investigated and hopefully shut down. It isn't even a government entity, it's a privately owned business that makes money off the court system and then sends the people back through so the court system can make more money off them.
Privately owned businesses have no place in the court system.

Tell that to people assigned to crossroads for traffic violations. A friend of mine had a no insurance ticket. They suspended her license for a year and made her have to keep insurance for the year she wasn't driving on top of the money she had to pay to crossroads. She didn't have the money to pay her insurance so she was put in a program that bled even more money from her. There may be a couple addicts who have benefited from it but the majority just end up back in jail, not over failed drug tests but the inability to pay.

tax exempt private entity at that! anywhere else you wouldnt be put on probation much less supervised crossroads probation for your 1st offense of lets say no insurance.its a money scam and mccracken county judges are benefiting.this lil town is corrupt to the core. same as policing for profit benefits law enforcers.
