Okay, let's get the debate started....

IF, the President uses an executive order to implement a weapons ban will that action result in a Supreme Court challenge to issue a ruling on executive power?

IF, an executive order to ban guns is allowed to stand, then all the next conservative President would need to do, is to issue an executive order banning abortions.

What I see happening is not the spark of a civil war, but the start of a rise in juducial power over the next several decades, that will result in dramatic reduction in unilateral decision by the executive branch.

If an executive order to ban guns actually is upheld, I just want to be the first one to welcome our country into Nazism. The first step Hitler took was to disarm the country. Romney never would have taken away our Constitutional Rights. As moronic as Romney is, I still voted for him because I KNEW Obama was dangerous. I just didn't know how evil he was.

Mr. Biden’s comment this week about taking executive action was seized on by some opponents as evidence that the president wanted to unilaterally restrict gun sales to legal buyers. But officials said executive action refers to limited measures like directing more attention and resources to pursuing violations of existing gun laws and studying gun violence.

Valid news sources will provide you with needed info folks, and the conservative biased ones will feed you propaganda. Red koolaid causes ignorance.

Zeb - the president has a history of acting unilaterally. The president issued an executive order on immigration that effectively prohibits border agents from enforcing immigration laws. Neither a red news source, nor a blue news source can dispute this.

My point with this is not bashing one particular party, it is to simply point out that we are heading down a slippery slope. If executive orders, which have not been challenged in court (to my knowledge) because they benefit the party in power, are allowed to stand then our country is nothing more than a benevolent dictatorship.

I cannot support any party, nor any person, that would willingly circumvent the Constitution of the United States.

I do agree with your point that red koolaid causes ignorance, but I also believe blue koolaid causes dependence, and both are deadly.

The term Executive Action was used incorrectly. That term historically means "assassination"

I copied that from a news source before. CNN. You are correct though, but it refers to orders.

NO way would SCOTUS uphold any EO banning so called AW.......it would reverse other prior SCOTUS rulings (which they hate ) dating back to 1938 IIRC "the right of the people to own and bear arms suitable for militia use" .......certainly an AR fits that criteria (as do all semi-auto defense weapons). The most recent SCOTUS rulings on "commonly used" re-enforce that as well....

Kings like to rattle their sabers and Obama sees himself as King .....seems like all the AWB is some "diversion"

Calm down, Wowser. Nobody but Publius is suggesting he's trying to, but he's just as afraid as you are that he'll try. All the while folks have been harping that he's trying to create a NWO, more important issues have passed you by. I'm not suggesting it's even been intentional either. This is just a testament to the stupidity of the public. They have the blinders, they're pulling the cart, but none of the horse-sense.

Romney took away the constitutional rights of MA when he was governor there by not only passing mandatory healthcare, just like Obamacare, but also banning so called assault weapons. Romney and Obama might as well be the same person.

Zeb - please read my statement again. I did not suggest anything. That is the problem with most people today, they read something without comprehending what they read. I started with IF...I never said he should or shouldn't, I didn't suggest that I am a a gun toting nut, I SIMPLY asked a question about the use of Executive orders.

I personally disagree with any President, in either party, in office using an exec order to do his legislative will, while circumventing Congress.

I will repeat, and maybe you can comprehend this time, I think the use of executive orders leads our country down a dangerous path. But neither party will challenge the use of these executive orders because they benefit from their power when they are in office. Clear?

Sorry, pub, didn't mean to put you in the same boat as Wowser, but I was simply reacting to his reaction to you. I have never once suggested executive orders would he used, but you did bring up executive orders he has already made. FYI you're talking to a 3rd party voter, neither of those puppets got my vote.

Honestly, there is not much to debate. Both ifs have near zero chance of happening. We could learn more from debating Hulk v. Spiderman.

A Lesson to be Learned on the Anniversary of Wounded Knee

December 29, 2012 marks the 122nd Anniversary of the murder of 297 Sioux Indians at Wounded Knee Creek on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in South Dakota.
These 297 people, in their winter camp, were murdered by federal agents and members of the 7th Cavalry who had come to confiscate their firearms “for their own safety and protection”.

The slaughter began AFTER the majority of the Sioux had peacefully turned in their firearms.

When the final round had flown, of the 297 dead or dying, two thirds (200) were women and children.

Around 40 members of the 7th Cavalry were killed, over half cut down by friendly fire from the Hotchkiss guns of their overzealous comrades-in-arms. Twenty members of the 7th Cavalry were deemed “National Heros” and awarded the Medal of Honor for their acts of cowardice.

Wounded Knee was among the first federally backed gun confiscation attempts in United States history. It ended in the senseless murder of 297 people

We now have two "morals of this"
1.) NEVER trust the US Government 100% nor let them disarm you or you will watch your family be brutally murdered.
2.) Ole zeb is a delusional idiot and not smart enough to realize either.

However lil Zeb, please feel free to relocate to N Korea, I'm certain that you will have little chance of finding any "armed Americans" there...
