My dog got bitten by my other dog so I took her to Heartland as it was close to home. I asked vet to see her. He huffed, let out a deep sigh and said "okay" as if he didn't want to be bothered. Said he would have to put her under anesthesia to examine and keep her overnight. I asked why anesthesia, which is dangerous for flat-faced breeds like mine. He said for his safety though she was perfectly calm and cooperative. He started making ugly remarks about me letting her get bit. I had a bad, bad feeling that he was trying to bilk me and that he might not take proper care of my dog since he didn't seem to want to deal with her. I told him I would take her to our usual vet. He started screaming at me that he didn't want to see her anyway and for me to get out of his office! I said he was pathetic. He started cursing me LOUDLY in front of my poor scared dog. He cursed me all the way into the parking lot! This man is CRAZY and possibly DANGEROUS!!! Go to Lone Oak Animal Clinic!

well this is not the first time he has been discussed on this board. i would never talk of someone i didnt know but i have had issues with this man as well. i started using this vet clinic when this man was away at prison for dealing steroids. the lady that took over for him was a very nice, good vet. one day i went back in with my dog and she was gone and he was there. i knew from the start this man wasnt hitting on a full deck of cards kwim? this visit was for a simple yearly shot so thats not too hard to screw up right? well one afternoon my beloved dog of 10 yrs was acting very lethargic and was not responding and he was slobbering and his lips had started to turn cold. at this time i called me so called vet and it was around 4:30. i told him how bad that my pet seemed and he said point blank, i dont have time to mess with it im closing at 5. i couldnt believe it. i had to call around until i found a nice vet at paducah vet clinic that called me back and came back to work at about 6 to see my dog. my dog had a tumor that had blown in his stomach and had to be put down. i was devastated. the whole sad point of my story is that clayton pretty much left my dog to suffer it out until he would have passed on his own. thank goodness for the good hearted vet i found. i will say by the actions and appearance of clayton he does seem to me to have a drug problem. he always seems to be in a different planet.

Yes, I've had issues with this vet too. I rescued a kitten (who only has 3 1/2 legs) out ofthe shelter and she wasn't eating, so I took her there b/c my normal vet was out of town, so I took her there..he told me she had an eating disorder so I had to feed her 1 little piece of food every 2 hours. What?? Crazy. I called my vet and he had his friend come and get my kitten and she's still around today!! She's a very large and spoiled girl, who has no eating disorder!

I took my dog to Heartland Vet after he was hit by a truck, he was on his last limb. He stayed there for 2 days and turned out okay. Dr. Potter was very professional and reasonable with his prices and services. GO DR. P!!

I was told by this Vet that my little dog had pancreatitis. Was up all night doing meds with her and thinking I was going to lose her. He done no blood test just looked in her eyes and felt her stomach. Took her off food and water for 30 hours. She was starving. By the way she was acting the next morning I started wondering about this so I looked it up and she didn't have but one of the signs. So I went for a second opinion, where blood tests were done and she DID NOT have pancreatitis. And she is going to be fine. DON'T TAKE your dog or cat to CLAYTON POTTER if you love them.

He is creepy. He yells loud when he talks and is very rude and abrupt unless he is leading the whole conversation. I find myself wanting to run when i have to talk to him. I really think he knows what he is doing, but he doesn't really have the heart of a healer. I think the whole world is getting to the point of being this way. Just about money and move on to the next patient.

He is the WORST vet I have ever been to. I trusted him when he said that is was "experienced" at cropping doberman's ears, but I was WRONG. Now my dog has NO ear left and the edges that he cut busted open when he removed the stitches too early. My dog's ears pretty much keep bleeding and he whimpers all the time when he lays his head down or shakes. I will NEVER subject my dog to this horrible man nor will I tell anyone to go to him for ANYTHING!!!! He didn't even cut the ear right. He cut the FRONT AND BACK of the ear. You aren't even suppose to cut the front of the ear, only the back. What a COMPLETE dumba@#!!!!

Doc Cumming isn't that great either.. The women vet is pretty good but Doc Cummings isn't very nice when you call for emergency after closing hours..no matter how sick your dog is he thinks it can wait till morning and if you refuse to wait that long he charges a arm and a leg.....

Perhaps you shouldn't have put your poor animal under an unnecessary procedure... did you ever think of that?

Doberman's crops have been done for years and years. I did not post on here to be blamed for anything. It is my dog and I can choose what I want to do with said dog. I wanted the ears cropped bc it was my own personal choice. Since I decided to have the ear crop done, I chose a vet that was supposedly good!! but I was WRONG. And for your information, DUH, an ear crop is not a painful procedure nor does it affect the puppy one bit IF IT IS DONE RIGHT!! If you don't like my review than why comment? I should of known better than to post on here because I know how people like to start stuff. This is a review, not a message board.

Considering I work in a vet clinic, I know exactly what I'm talking about. It IS a painful procedure no matter how well it is done and it is also a hard procedure to do. Perhaps you should do your research before you put your animal through an unnecessary cosmetic procedure. Just because it has been done for years and years doesn't make it right.

Duh, I don't see the point in arguing about something that a lot of people do. Not just me. And yes, I did my research and know exactly how it is done. My father is a vet. And I am Pre-Vet, with 2 years to go. I know enough to know what they do and that it is NOT a painful procedure because the dog is anesthetized. Why don't you do your research a little more and not bash me for what I wanted for my dog.(My dad doesn't do ear crops because he has never learned how.) It is also NOT a hard procedure to do, takes 30 minutes and that's it. You mark the ears where they need to be cut and than stitch the edges up. Why argue with me?? I didn't come on here to be told I was wrong for what I did. Just to be sure that no one goes to Dr. Potter for an ear crop. Let me guess.......you either are him or you work for him?

Nice try but no, I'm not him nor do I even know him. Just because the dog is anesthetized does not mean he is not in great pain afterward. Also, if you really are pre-vet, then you should know that a lot of time the crop doesn't even take, no matter how good a job the vet did. It doesn't matter what you come on here for, a lot of people will disagree AND agree with you... I happen to disagree with you and I called you out on it because the surgery is unnecessary and illegal in several countries.

I was trying to find out who he was and she was afraid to tell me anymore because she was afraid of having problems with the whole family. PLEASE try and find out who it is. It has haunted me for a year. Thats about how long it has been since she told me about it.

Actually this is not the first crop I have been through. I have had dobermans in the past and they NEVER had any pain following the surgery. I hand washed the ears everyday from the time of surgery to prevent infection and the pup loved it when I was massaging their ears. Yes I know that the crop does not take all the time but that is always a risk that I am willing to take, and I will love my pup NO MATTER if the ears stand or not. Thanks for calling me out, but like I said this is MY REVIEW on this vet and I want to make sure no one else goes to him for it. Thank you and I see you always like to have the last word, and I will grant that to you as I no longer want to continue this ridiculous conversation on this VET REVIEW. Bye bye.
