Stores are required to post about shoplifting and writing bad checks. Most stores post the shoplifting laws in bathrooms and fitting rooms as this is where most people attempt to hide merchandise on them. They post the bad checks at the cash register. If one will notice they are not giving legal advice but posting the KRS or a store's policy and that is not giving legal advice. Most stores even put the KRS chapter on the postings. In case, it is hard to know what KRS is- it is Kentucky Revised Statutes and has the laws in them.

I probably have read the Constitution more than some of you morons and by the way, taking legal advice from someone who has not passed a bar exam is not smart either and I am not a guy. I was stating that stores post the KRS and I am pretty certain most of you don't even know what that is. You are assuming that I am a cop which I am not. They put their lives on the line every day and may not make it home from on any given day. Most of you complain about the police but who do you call when you are a victim of something, my guess is that you call the police and yet I know I couldn't do their job and neither could some of you.

10 min later Once backup arrived he began searching. I asked his backup why is he searching me and not the lady that drove off. He simply said I don't know what she looked like???? REALLY,, that pissed me off. I served my country and as did the one cop that came as backup. We shared a few stories and even he could not believe that his buddy was searching my car.
Once his cocky friend found nothing I drove off. I will NEVER let another cop search my car.... They can waste the judge's time and get a warrant.
So crook or no crook DO NOT let the cops search your vehicles. I know a lot of the local cops and some I even call my friends,,,, but believe me... There are dirty cops out there. And yes there are dirty cops in Paducah.
So stand your ground and know your rights. I fought for them!
Kind of sounds similar to my story of being pulled over when I was 16 yrs of age about 17 yrs ago. I was the female getting pulled over in my camaro along with a male in a mustang. I wasn't racing though, the mustang cut me off and I had to swerve to avoid being hit. The mustang was speeding going over the beltline. A cop went by saw this and turned around pulled us both over. The cop came to my car first and asked if I knew why I was being pulled over along with the other car. I explained to the officer it was probably for my switching lanes without a turn signal and explained the what had happened. I gave him my insurance card and dl when backup arrived. I had my sister and younger cousin in the car with me. It took about 15 minutes before the cop returned to my car gave me a warning. I looked in my rearview mirror to see the mustang getting searched.
I have been known to pay my fair share of potholes, but on that night I was not speeding. I figured there must have been probable cause for the other guy.

I have to agree what others have posted that taking legal advice from someone who has not even taken the bar yet is not a smart thing to do. Let's say that one ends up in court and goes "your Honor, I got my legal advice from someone who has not passed the bar yet". I am pretty certain that the judge would caution you in the future about taking advice from someone who hasn't practiced law or passed a bar exam. You don't have to consent to a search, true, and most officers and deputies are more an likely not going to search a vehicle unless they have a good reason too. I was pulled over once for speeding and never once did the officer say we need to check your vehicle. I imagined had I been weaving and swerving in and out of traffic that would have gave them a reason to search.

Actually, you need to reread my statement. I said if you went in front of a judge and what they might say, that is not giving legal advice. If I was going to give legal advice I would quote law. Not sure where you got legal advice from that but that is a common sense statement which many in here do not have. I also said one did not have to consent to a search that is that person's right but I can tell you that is your right just like it is my right to consent to a search. Since you seem to be big on making sure all read the U.S. Constitution then it would be my right to consent to a search, just because I do, doesn't mean you or anyone else has too.

you should do a little more research before posting comments. Research the true definition of legal advise. Your confusing it with legal information.

Actually maybe you should look up the definitions legal advice is interpreting the law or applying law to the facts regarding a law. Legal information is a formal opinion regarding a procedure of law by an officer of the courts since I am neither an attorney or an officer of the court I was stating an opinion on what a judge Might say, now obviously some on here needs a definition of might. He or she might say it and they might not, I would not know but just stating a common sense opinion that again is sorely lacking in many.

<quoted text>Years ago the Paducah Police Dept. had some good officers and some bad officers, the bad officers seem to give the good officers a bad name. We get a new police chief in and he has cleaned the department up. Once again, batgirl, you want to be an attorney and these officers that you say are committing perjury are the ones who will often bring the clients to you. I would think since you are a 3rd. year law student you would know the word is liars not lyers which shows you are an idiot. But then an attorney who represents himself or herself often has a fool for a client. You need to think about that before you make asinine statements in which you know nothing about.
you come across as being being an authority on ppd, i got a question; do they get tested for steroids?

i know you can just simply glance over many of them and quickley conclude there not taking steroids; like b.laired, for example. It would simply be a waist of tax payer money to test him for roids.

I have no clue on whether they test for steroids or not. I do know that according to what is on the testing requurements that to be hired they do drug testung but I am not ab authority on PPD. I have friends who are police officers and they have said that the old chief was a waste and let guys get by with things. It took some of the ifficers going to the media to make the oublic aware. The new chief does not toletate scandal and has the full support of the officers. Yes, that would be a waste of tax payers money.

[QUOTE who="what?"]I can assure you that the cops were not having a "good time" while searching your sons car. They were simply just doing their job. And for all those people wanting to say No just out of spite, if you have nothin to hide, then what's it matter??? Really? Why make a cops job harder than it already is? I, personally want druggies and dealers off of our streets. And if they sometimes catch one by randomly searching cars, then it's my civic duty to comply if I happen and to be one of those random people. It's not because they are picking on people, it's just business. This isn't the movies. It's Paducah, Ky. They are not going to "plant" something in your car. That's just silly...

sounds to me like you have ingested too much Flouride in your day. It has made you very compliant and passsive as well. You've never heard of a dirty Cop on the news at anytime? That's just the one that wasn't in good with the rest of the gang like they all are, so he had to get raded out

Don't concent to a car search. Tell them to go get a search warrent. I don't think most cops would spend the time unless they had a very good reason to search.
