I understand we have an election coming up for mayor. Who is running. Is the current mayor doing a good job? Seems to me things are running pretty well here?

We will find out later when the list closes in January who all who are running. The mayor is doing a pretty good job and so far only has one weirdo going to run against him. Weirdo you ask? Read the local papers. You will find out. Yes the city seems to be running fine.

There sure seems to be several posters who have their service provided from Elmhurst these days.

You don't have to live where the post comes from, depends on your computer. I live in Arnold. Thanks for the feedback. I had heard the current mayor was doing a good job.

Check It Out, Did you even read the article? Or you just can comprehend written word? All communication was done with the old City Administrator alone. He was at fault for not telling the Mayor or Council that it was running way over budget. The Mayor had nothing to do with instructing the developer that he only deals with the City Administrator on the project funding issues. This fault only lies with the City Council for giving so much power to only one person, not the Mayor! You can't run something efficiently if your personnel is hiding or keeping things from you.

Oh, the Mayor doesn't get off that easy. The City Administrator is the chief administrative assistant to the mayor. So if the Mayor didn't know about it, then the Mayor wasn't doing his job.

WOW you really can't comprehend anything can you? All the blame for this rest on the shoulders of the prior sitting City Council that gave the power to the developer to report to the City Administrator and no one else. The City Council gave specific orders to the developer to deal with the City Administrator on the affairs of this development, not the Mayor or themselves. The City Administrator chose to meet one on one with no one else in the room with this developer. So no Mayor or Supervisor can do their job if the person under them assigned to handle a project is going to withhold information form them weather by design or stupidity.

You might want to check with the city attorney and whoever wrote the development agreement and gave the approval of the agreement before it was presented to the city council. Ultimately it is the Mayor's responsiblity according to the Revised Statutes of Missouri
City administrator, employment authorized.
77.042. The governing body of any city of the third class, except those organized under the provisions of sections 78.430 to 78.640, and any fourth class city may by ordinance provide for the employment by the governing body with the approval of the mayor of a city administrator who shall be the chief administrative assistant to the mayor and who shall have general superintending control of the administration and management of the government business, officers and employees of the city, subject to the direction and supervision of the mayor.

Your post pegs you as the one not comprehending things. City council didn't give orders to anyone. Blame falls on the shoulders of whomever drew up the agreement and/or approved it as acceptable to be presented to council and those staff members who recommended approval. The city administrator is the Mayor's right hand, maybe the Mayor is left handed that would explain the communication gap. It's like the left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing. Isn't there an attorney who works for the city who looks at this stuff beforehand?

I think Mayor counts will win electing easily. He has got the right team in place. He never "rocks the boat". Right in the middle, just like Clair. LOL.

Some may say there are a lot of rocks around and they're getting heavier. Those rocks are in the boat and weighing it so far down, water is starting to flow in over the top of the sides. The three men in the tub only have their dixie cups to bail the water out and only one oar in the water. The three on shore don't have any life preservers to help save them. All because of one wench or so they say. This could be better than the Fox drama, they are all try to do things the same way, behind the scenes.
