Does anyone know what the CoA is doing in the lot before Arnold Park?
Looks like dirt and gravel being moved around... just curious.

The law says no permanent structure in the flood plain. But the City doesn't follow its own rules. And there is a $3,000 tent available from last year.

Actually, there are $18,000 worth of tents from last year. Your tax dollars at work. A road is going in too? Looks like it.

So our mayor is wasting more of our money on his personal play toy, a farmer market? After wasting $40,000 plus on it last year, with tents, and employee overtime salary, in an area directly across the street for a produce vendor, he's going to waste even more with permanent structures? There are at least 3 perfectly viable and well run and used farmers markets to take lessons from that have no government insolvent and are popular at Tower Grove, Crystal City and Desoto. But our mayor wants to reinvent the wheel with our tax dollars. If he ran his auto shop the way he runs our city, he'd be bankrupt in less than 2 years!

Prove your allegation. My understanding is he cannot expend funds without COUNCIL APPROVAL. Doesn't the council approve the warrants?

Funds have been expended without council approval frequently, maybe if you paid attention once in a while you would know that. It was pointed out quite a few times, but you were too busy trying to discredit the one bringing forth the information.

What is being discussed are the structures and road being erected on the north side of the entrance to Arnold City Park for the farmer's market. You may be referring to the land purchased by the JCYA for fields behind the far barrier on the east end of the park, but on private property.

Doris discredited herself just fine. The JCYA is not beyond the far barrier. That was moved farther back months ago.

The JCYA is not at the entrance to the park, which Seth Ferrell seemed to be indicating by his post "Football fields." What does Doris have to do with this?

The council did not knowingly approve funds for this. If it was buried someplace in the warrants under something else, I don't know. If you've ever read the warrants you might understand. Bottom line is this was the mayors decision and done so without input from council. This is his personal play toy with our money.

That's classic. Excuses, excuses and then accusation of misappropriating money. Another accusation that you can't prove. If you were so diligent why don't you ask to see the invoices for the expenses in the warrants and match them up instead of throwing baseless accusations?

If you were on the council then shame on you. You should have asked to have the warrant explained and how to track things down.

Well thanks... just wondering what it was. Did not mean to cause a fight. I think it will be a good move away from school parking lot. Maybe they are using the money they made off it last year.

They didn't make a cent off of it last year, they went in the hole close to a hundred thousand dollars last year. Between the tents, paying to have the school restrooms open, entertainment, tables and chairs purchased, staff to erect and take down tents, a market manager's salary, staff on hand to oversee operations and man the city tent for t-shirt sales, electricity, advertising. Farmer's markets are typically funded and run by charitable organizations, not taxpayer supported.

I knew it cost a lot, but didn't realize it was that much. You can't get numbers from city hall on these things. But you've got to figure the crew is being paid overtime to set up on a Friday night and take down on a Saturday afternoon. And the tents, I understand, have been really torn up already. Not sure about charities running some, but I do know non profits run the successful ones like Tower Grove, Crystal City and Desoto. These bring people, and their money, into the surrounding area to spend and not cost taxpayers one red cent! But then they don't have a mayor that thinks the public treasury is his personal piggy bank. And the council did not approve this expenditure, as it was only decided to be in Arnold City Park a little over month ago.
