Hi, Adoptees and other relatives are doing
DNA to help find each other.

Siblings and Parents and adoptees can sign up with the state on
several places.
One tool they are using is DNA testing.

For more help with this, come to :
www.nyadoptees.com

We help people from all states in the country.

I have done DNA testing with Family Tree DNA, did the "Family Finder test, and I now have 49 relative matches ranging from a predicted 3rd cousin, to 4th and 5th-distant cousins. It is really interesting and a wonderful way to discover your genealogy and information on your ethnic ancestry. For adoptees and birth family searching, it is a new search tool that has not been available to the average consumer until recently.
I am also a member of the nyadoptees group and there are excellent search angels there who help adoptees and birth family who are searching for family members, for free.

Hi, just a reminder to have have your DNA done. Siblings, parents, adoptees can all do this.

Grandparents,cousins,Aunts,Unc les, too.

Parents should also update medical with the State registry. Parents can always update important medical and have it in a file that even the adoptive parent can request.

Yes, adoptive parents can request and find out if any important medical information has been put in the Medical registry with NY state.

For help with any of this come to www.nyadoptee.com

Volunteers help all the time.

If you are a parent who relinquished a child for adoption, you can update the medical information with the state.
Also you can sign up to be reunited. IF both parties sign up, the state will contact you.

Hi, please think about updating medical information.

Even if the child is a minor you can update medical, and the adoptive parents can request updated medical too.

Hi, if you were born in March and Adopted, sign up with the state for Medical and information.
Also sign up to be reunited if that is what you want.
Parents, please update medical.
You don't have to be rreunited, to update the medical.

Adoptees are very curious about their pasts.

Hi updated Expanded Registry rules......
Expanded NY adoption registry signed into law
Thursday October 4, 2012 2:53 PM By Yancey Roy
A law signed Thursday will expand participation in New York’s adoption registry, where adoptees and birthparents can search for information and pursue reunions.
Previously, the state limited participation to adoptees born in New York State. The new law, signed by Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo, extends participation to those born out of state but adopted by New York families.
The bill was sponsored by two Long Island legislators, Assemb. Charles Lavine (D-Glen Cove) and Senate Majority Leader Dean Skelos (R-Rockville Centre).

It is ok for parents to search and sign up with the state registry. There are other places too everyone can sign up on.

IF you are an adoptee, birth parent; Grandparent; cousin; sibling; add your search for the person you are looking for.
