And you think making pot legal will prevent kids from using it? You are twisted.<quoted text>
Let me see... cannabis use is up, prescription drug use is up, alcohol use is up, everywhere else in the country, but small town Ozark Missouri. Here is a little secret- Kid's at upper are being caught with weed. The status quo hasn't worked in 40 plus years, it's not going to start working because the Sheriff bought a Harley.
The point is, the local DARE program helps officers make amazing connections with kids in our area. Sometimes it is a DARE officer that is able to get kids talking about abuse and dangerous situations in their home. You are really twisted if you are against a program that has such a huge impact on some young lives. The idea that DARE causes kids to do more drugs is ridiculous. Statistics can be twisted to represent whatever you want. Did you ever consider that the DARE program was initially offered mostly in communities with existing drug problems? Of course kids from those schools would have a higher rate of using drugs than kids from a community with a low rate of drug use. The DARE program has been revised based on studies of the long term effect on kids as they age. DARE has addressed the problems with retention and continue to improve the program. What have you done to keep kids off drugs?
