Martina
Muskogee, OK

Branson is starting to look like a jaded old streetwalker who just keeps applying more and more makeup but just looks worse and worse.

We just returned from a trip to Branson and I must say I am sooooooo disappointed and angry in what I found downtown.

I could not believe the citizens of Branson had allowed their lovely area on the river front to be permanently destroyed for a useless shopping center with stupid hotel!

We circled the area as best as possible looking for old familiar landmarks but could find none.

The public pool was gone, the area for duck feeding was gone, the quaint older resorts were gone, a big part of what made Branson unique was gone and for what?

As I don't live in Branson and our last visit was approximately 5 years ago,

(we used to come every year}, when did Bransonites allow this travesty to happen? I can't believe they thought this would actually be good for the town.

Branson is starting to look like a jaded old streetwalker who just keeps applying more and more makeup but just looks worse and worse.

Its over-run with hotels and shopping areas as it is. I've loved coming here ever since my parents first brought me in 1969.

I've seen it change over the years and its just become less innocent and quaint and gotten cheesier and guadier as time has passed.

I will agree that at one time it did need more hotel rooms but we now have extreme overkill in that department and I can see the bottom falling out soon as a town can only support so many of the same thing.

All over the area we saw signs saying "hiring now" and we actually got up and walked out of almost empty restaurant because they didn't have enough wait staff to cover the 10 people inside.

Plus we noticed in the places we did eat they were short staffed and not giving great service either.

Another land mark we were used to seeing was the Dairy Drive In just across from the Silver Fountain Inn.

The drive in is leveled and the Silver Fountain is closed and forlorn looking.

Thankfully my kids favorite activity the "Water Chute" just across from Wal Mart was still open.

Wonder when the powers that be in Branson will decide that it needs to go also.

Branson is starting to look like a jaded old streetwalker who just keeps applying more and more makeup but just looks worse and worse.

Its truly sad to witness what is happening there, maybe if the people of Branson read enough negative comments they call a halt to what someone sold them as "progress".

It's all in the mane of MONEY. Some people believe that the more money you make the more fun you have.

It cost nothing to feed the duck, so put in a mall. Greed overspending high tax's are the result. Too many people with money coming to live hear and they think they can buy happiness.

Sad but true.

You're getting senile Martina.
You mentioned the streetwalker bit, three times.
( or were you looking in the mirror?) LMAO.

Things change/evolve or they die. Branson is no different.

You and Botts apparently have no money and are jealous of those that have gone out and made something of their lives.

...go get your hair and nails done girls. It will cheer you up.

Ms. Martina...You shouldn't be so negative...you must have stress problems big time or need to walk off your stress. Branson hasn't changed that much...it just grew in population; therefore building more businesses, houses and schools created more jobs which keeps at town of anykind thriving.
The first time I came to Branson on vacation was in the early 80s and I know what you mean by the pool being gone and the duck feeding and I am sure the ducks still come around. I still visit Branson and hope to live around the area real soon. I love the Kimberling City area too. It is a wonderful place.
Ms. Martina; you go visit some big cities and other large towns that are so big they are over crowded and depressing. Branson is beautiful and one of the most awesome places to raise a family and call home.
Maybe you should think about having your hair and nails done; you may feel better...hahahaha....or just go fishing; and look for the more positive in things.

I agree totally with Ms. Martina. Branson Landing is awful; it HAS ruined Branson, the lake front, and the downtown area.

I disagree with you about the landing,
It is a good addition to branson,
The ducks are still there,
Sure there are things that need to change about the strip,
They need to clean up the empty lots, and see that all hotels are up to standards, or be tore down.
Branson does have a shortage of employees,
There are many great places in branson to eat,
sorry you had an unpleasant trip...

I love Branson but I hate the Landing! It was a quiet and charming place before the big boys took over.Let me ask a question.Have any of you seen the Hilton all booked up?It cost 150 dollars when you could go to a hotel on the main strip for 30 dollars. But one thing I have noticed is that they are tearing down all of the old hotels one by one! It`s changing so fast.Alot of people I know have been so turned off by the way things are going. They have not wanted to go to Branson because it`s turning into what most are trying to get away from.Big city crap!Do your self a favor and go to Mountain View Arkansas. It`s beautiful, the way Branson was before money and greed took over!

I love Branson!! I am waiting for daughter to graduate high school here in Iowa before making a huge move to Branson. I work as a hospital pharmacy technician right now and hope to find something in that field when I move to Branson. It's just a great place!! My daughter graduates high school in May of 2010 and I am patiently waiting and trying to save some funds for moving.

Daily Horoscope for December 27

Sagittarius

After all the excitement of the past few days you're longing for the chance to put your feet up and take life easy for a while. Ideally, you should bury your nose in a good book and be left alone until you resurface for a food transfusion. But you'll also enjoy chatting to someone you know very well and for whom you don't have to make a big effort, such as a close relative.
