I have noticed that too.Why would a fence go around the park?Wierd. But they are doing something down that way.More parking space is all I can think off.Everyone is going to the Landing and it`s killing the rest of Branson.

Yeppers, whee-hee, a carousel! Should check out all those against a simple little merry-go-round on some of the other Branson forums. You wouldn't think that a carousel would meet opposition from the rest of Branson but apparently it is so. Of course, sales at the Landing are "flat" according to a recent news story and sales tax is down 16% from last year so Branson is trying anything to troll those visitors into town.

A merry go round? There has to be more to it than that.
I wonder how the mini golf place at the landing is doing? What next?

The carousel was going to be placed in the middle of the landing where the Christmas tree is in the winter, not at the end of the landing. It has since been denied, so no carousel.

A carousel wouldn't have brought them any more business anyway. In case the fine folks at the Landing - and along the Strip - haven't noticed, the US is deep into a recession of historic proportions with no end in sight.

The Landing is pretty with it`s fountains and fire balls.A free concert once in a while is nice, but the stores are too rich for my blood.Heck,The popcorn is 5 dollars a bag!The candy stores are crazy. After walking out of there you spend at least 25 dollars! The 5 & 10 store at the Landing is a joke.If you want to go to a real 5 & 10 store go to Dick`s 5&10 in the old downtown area. It`s great. They are doing something down on the Landing at the end where the old resorts use to be.

The Landing is a high rent area that does not fit the Branson model of affordable food, goods and entertainment.

Empty store fronts, going out of business signs, dying flowers and empty hotel rooms.

What's the bottom line?

The city of Branson citizens are mortgaged to the max and will pay dearly for it.

Tax increament financing (TIF). The Meadows is a prime example of a TIF gone wrong and The Landing will soon follow.
Do ya think the Meadows looks good with all the empty stores, half of it rented to OTC??

The funny thing is they are building more retail space on the North end. Strip mall bulidings all across the area have numerous empty units and someone approved building another one.

It's going to be interesting here in a few years when the fountains are turned off and the grass is growing up between the cracks in the bricks on the main street at the landing and the "Botique Hilton Hotel" becomes a weekly rental flop house.

When the City of Branson cut down the Liberty tree and replaced it with this concrete catastrophe they sold out there souls to the devil himself.

Dick's Five and Dime has been there for decades; I know that it has been there at least since the 1960's because as a small child, I went there on many trips.

Sure, the prices are high but what the hell isn't high in Branson? Even evil Wal-Mart has higher prices in Branson! Plus Dick's has a lot of speciality things, things from yesteryear that you're not likely to find any place else.

Yeah, the old resorts were the best. My grandparents and I used to stay in one years and years ago, it was so nice and right there on the lake. We walked over a few blocks to downtown Branson for groceries or other stuff. That era ended long ago but it was a better one than this.

Oh My God,More buildings and more shopping on the water. It will flood. That is so funny. There is no flood wall there. And what about the North Beach Park or what`s left of it?Plus it`s going to look crappy. You can`t even see the lake now as it is.Branson,Please stand back and take a look .Your ruining everything. No wonder people are looking into new places to go on vacation.I mean if you have alot of money and time,I guess you could shop till you drop!
