This entire department should be investigated. Ozark's police department has shown seriously flaws in judgment and lack of leadership. The patrolmen abuse their power and vehicles that we, as taxpayers, pay for. I believe that the police officers in a community should be there to actually protect and serve the community, not treat everyone as "guilty until proven innocent". Which is a direct quote from an Ozark policeman.

This case in particular just blows my mind. This officer and this "mother" should both be arrested.

Taser torture/stun guns stimulate muscles to contract rapidly, over 20 times per second. That is how they "exhaust" muscles, and make the Taser Victim fall to the ground.

But when a Taser is applied to the "chest area", the muscles which control breathing and the heart, are also contracted to the point of "exhaustion". The heart and the chest muscles can not function, after a Taser Killer Shock. That is why over 550 Taser Victims have been killed around the world, after law enforcement Taser Killer Shocks.

These Taser Torture Devices not only Kill people, they scare and scar the Police Officers who pull the trigger and see that they just ended an innocent life.

Tasers Kill.

Just you wait one minute, Mr DB Cooper,

This officer was quickly being overpowered by a stronger opponent. She had already kicked him in the groin, and the officer had a split second decision to make. Risk being seriously beaten and possibly even beaten to death at the hands of an unruly foe; or fight for his life with the very tools that the Taxpayers of Ozark have given him to handle these exact circumstances.

Until you have stared danger straight in the eye; and fought against great odds; do not be so smug as to criticise this officer. Or, any other officers for that matter.

This would no doubt be an "independent" investigation conducted by other cops. How convenient. Cops are all thick as thieves .. wait a minute, most of them are thieves ... and apparently child abusers, too.

Real police officers are trained professionals who proudly accept and uphold the law. No one is "above the law". In Canada to become a police officer & police/EMS dispatcher a university degree (4-years)is preferred & and both professions must undergo intensive training programs where high marks count. Plus, police officers are then trained by independent police forces, i.e. Metro Toronto Police Dept. Not for the faint of heart.

Independent police investigations should mean that. Don't sell them short. There are more good & honest police officers than bad except the truly "dishonest" stand out more. To approve of this form of "child abuse" is a "dishonour" to those fellow officers who put their lives on the line every day. Remember the rights of US citizens are enshrined in your constitution. Don't forget to stand up and fight for accountability.

Unfortunately, this is not the case in America, especially small-town America. Cops are mostly uneducated individuals who without the badge and gun would have absolutely no power, influence, or respect. A lot of them were mistreated by stronger kids when they were growing up and take that out on others when they have the power of the badge.

"Truthful" - if you know it is unjust then why don't you (collectively) change it? Why settle for "less" when you are guaranteed freedom under your constitution?

Unfortunately, these days our freedom is only guaranteed if we do not "cross" the government. Collectively, our levels of government have more police forces than can be counted. Today, our forefathers who saw wrong and joined together to change it would be considered and treated as "terrorists" by "our" government. Sad but true.

Have a little "faith". This story has taken a "life of its own", it has gone "global". Hard to hide "injustice" from the world's eyes.

I used to drive through Ozark on the way back to Van Buren but that will stop. If there is a rogue cop out there I don't want him harming my children by shocking them if for some reason I am stopped.

This is a story underlining the total lack of support for those that enforce our policies at the local and national levels. Our military personel are tried for "abuse" when they bust a terrorists lip and our police officers are labeled as "villains" for zapping a combative hoodlem. Exactly what kind of injury resulted from this other than temporary discomfort? Thats right, none. The most hilarious part is that the idiots that are in charge of making the decision dont even have the balls to say it is because of the media scrutiny and public outcry over this incident. It is also funny that the police chief came out in support of this officer after the incident, but as the heat was turned up found a lame excuse to fire him. He was fired for not having a camera turned on...please.

If that is the real reason for the dismissal then they (police) do look ridiculous and unprofessional. Obviously they still agree it is okay to "taser/physically abuse a child". Disgraceful. Dishonourable. Deplorable. Inexcusable. The police dept as a whole and town council should be investigated. The child is a "victim and a minor" who is supposed to be protected and cherished and her rights were and are still being denied and trampled on.

If a grown man can't handle a 10 year old without a taser he has no business being an officer of the law, kicked in the groin or not.

Went to school with him. He is academically smart but has zero common sense. I wasn't surprised when I read what he did. What blows my mind is that Justin Phillips works as an LE officer. That is like letting a fox watch the hen house.
