Ten-Year-Old Tasered in Arkansas

Nov 18, 2009 Full story: snafu-ed.blogspot.com 295
Tasers are supposed to be used in place of lethal force when a criminal is uncooperative or combative. In this case, however, a ten-year-old was tasered when she was combative as an officer tried to get the girl into a patrol car to be taken to a youth shelter. Read more

The scariest part about this story is that the Mom called the police on her 10-year old daughter because she was having a temper tantrum and they carted her off after she refused to "follow her mother's instructions".

Just another example of the dangerous situations that our nation's lawmen face on a routine basis. Clearly, this officer was being overpowered by a very dangerous and very unruly subject. In spite of his best efforts to gain control of this subject; this officer was on the loosing end of the battle. The subject was quickly gaining complete control of the officer, after she kicked him in the groin. He had a split second decision to make: immediately tazor the subject; or risk additional personal injury at the hands of the subject.

Until you are in the shoes of an officer; and you are being beaten and overpowered by a much stronger opponent; you have no business commenting on this story.

Perhaps getting all the cops Wii Taser Hero as holiday gifts last year was not the best idea in retrospect.

Because a 10 year old would in theory have a strong heart, but still-forming bone, it was perhaps a more reasonable response then manhandling her.
When my sister was 16 she kicked a cop in the nuts for roughing up her bf. She might have won the battle except that the cop was twice her size and fell over on top of her. Arrested her a few minutes later after finally recovering. I think the officer decided he did not want to testify that he was put down by a 16 yr old girl because he released her as soon as they got to the police station with no charges filed. Laughed MFAO!

While this may sound harsh, we don't know all the details. I have seen ten-year-olds that you'd swear were adults. The other day, I was teaching a 16-year-old that I thought was like 30 something. Depends on the situation.
