I could not believe that a page and a half was written about how some young man without a licence was killed. You wrote the sad and sentimental feelings of his friends and family. Yes, it was tragic and extremely upsetting for all who knew Maldonado.
But....what about the innocent man " wonderful husband and father"?
Only ONE third of the page? That article was written in a cold and unfeeling manner. Why, in gods name, did you have to include his work problems from 2008? WHAT DOES THAT HAVE TO DO WITH THIS POOR MAN DYING TRAGICALLY? I was horrified reading that part of the article. It bothered me all night....Did you both ever stop to think how this article affects his wife and children ? HIS JOB HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH THE LOSS OF THIS MAN......I wonder - do you have blood running through your veins? Tell me.. do we really care about whether Mr. Sherlocks attorney could be reached regarding an event in 2008? I never met Mr. Sherlock, but he obviously deserved a better article than the one you both wrote.I feel so sorry for the family. Tell us more about what this man was like as a husband and father as your title stated.
If you both worked for me....you would be looking for a new job right now. Shame on the inhumanity.

Oyster Bay News Team...
I tried unsuccessfully to send the above letter to Newsday. Especially to the reporters. If you are familiar with how to get my comments to them also please do so. I would like as many readers as possible to see it. The innocent should not have to fight for their morallity after death.

thank you

I couldnt agree more with Marie B....
I noticed the same thing. They spoke only about the 2 men that were speeding and driving illegally. Not the father coming home from getting milk for his family!

I agree totally with what you have written. This was a decent guy like many of us who have made mistakes. His death was tragic and rather then sending condolences to he and his family, his bones are being picked upon by the media like the vulchers they are. Lets not forget, he was the victim, had a valid driver's license and was obeying the law. While it is sad that the other two men died as well, they decidely broke the law and ran from the police and there outcome not only affected them but destroyed the lives of his widow and two young daughters. There had better be a follow up article or I sense some legal issues brewing!!!!!!

How dare you say crap about a guy who was getting milk for his kids. Becasue he had his lights off? First if it's true, after an accident like than, who knows what was what the cars were in pieces. Second, if he forgot to turn them on, that's no reason to die AND still doesn't excuse the two idiots that were speeding around, running from the cops, AND didn't even have a licence. Were they legal???? Deport all illegals I say, and come back legally, I'll greet you with open arms IF you are legal

Israel maldonaldo and his cousin are the criminals and the killers. Plain and simple.
It is a shame that Newsday / Ch12 puts them in the same line with decent, law abiding and hard working immigrants.
As to Oyster Bay, the ICE really needs to inspect that area, including the park. Some 'Maldonaldo' are sleeping overnight right in the park. A year or so ago another illegal was arrested for underage rape done somewhere in Maryland. The area became kind of transit hub.

THIS MESSAGE GOES STRAIGHT TO THE DEVIL - Whom calls himself ANGELDEVIL - First off, his name was Peter!! But I guess you don't read english too well so I'll give you that one. NOONE ever said that his lights were off - the car was too mangled from your immigrant unlicensed, and probably intoxicated (time will tell)friend Maldonado who HIT HIM HEAD ON AND KILLED HIM!!! He is a murderer!! If only your friend filled out the paperwork and came here legally, then went to driving school, learned how to drive - Peter would be alive today and could spend FATHERS DAY with both his wife and daughters!!! So do us a favor and keep your condolensces of the Maldonado or whatever his name is too YOURSELF!!!!! Cause, frankly - NONE of us want to hear from you anymore!!!!
