I know it seems preventable. Not going out in an eight foot boat is very preventable.

Guy, u really must be retarded...that or u have never been on a boat b4. in order to get to a fishing boat u need to go on a dam small boat to take u there. i mean it really preventable. and to post something as stupid as that is almost an insult to the family. next time u post a comment on an article as serious as this do me a favor, think about what u are saying....then just don't say it

in response to "guy": clearly you did not read the article right because if you had, you would realize that the boat was not 8 feet it was the dinghy, which is what you use to get out to the boat. by saying that "not going out in an 8 ft boat is preventable" implys that you belive that it is Sals fault rather then placing the blame on the officials who are clearly at fau

Sounds like it's budget time for the Atlantic Steamer fire company. Not happy enough with more fire trucks than an FDNY battalion, they have to justify spending their budgeted money on other equipment, most which they never use like their boat at Roosevelt marina, so as not have to give the money back to the taxpayers.

I believe this the same fire dept. who had to have 2 of their members rescued when they broke their legs on the 1st day of "training" with their 2 new FD jetskis?

Thank you all for your understanding and comments to that"guy

My brother Sal needed to check on his fishing boat. The community lost a good man. This is a tragedy and disgrace to all who live right there....
