my first thought after reading this story was it probly has more to do with housing development plans @ Grant Park ( but I might be way off) people speed and wreck everywhere. I was hit[hard] while parked in the parking lot at V.C.should I contact the f:(( ing Sierra bunch?

Some feel that Wall St. is a problem. There are sidewalks on either side for pedestrians and bicyclists. Those who feel in danger there are doing something they shouldn't. Those that are concerned about pedestrians working their way up Cedar hill where there is no sidewalk, the solution would be to make use of Wall St. as a short term alternative, and request The City explore adding sidewalks down Cedar to Prospect.

This is just another example of selfishness. With all curves, blind or otherwise, there are dangers of speeders losing control and wrecking. Residents who choose to move there would be aware of it. Signs warn of it. The Ventura PD doesn't consider it a significant issue, which means...

...self-interest is at the heart of the matter. The only real and tangible problem comes from those pedestrians who do selfishly try to walk/run across the street at this blind corner and get upset with the traffic they encounter. I'm sorry, but if you're going to Jaywalk, it comes with the territory. 

The only real solution, aside from claiming personal property for street modifications, is to install a crosswalk with push-button flashing lights that are visible from either side of the curb. Such a cross walk would be most beneficial on the Poli side straight-away between the curve and Palm St. Of course, the lazy (selfish) among us on Cedar wouldn't want to be so inconvenienced as to walk around the corner to reach the crosswalk, so they will keep whining. 

I am a resident and live about three blocks away. I use this route driving several times a week, and walk it occasionally. If I choose to cross on my way up to Grant Park, I head over to Ferro Dr. to do my Jaywalking, where I have enough visibility in both directions to watch for traffic. 

The City pushed me into using this route to commute to anywhere I'm going in Ventura, as an efficient means of getting from The Avenue to Southbound 101. The City opted to disrupt traffic for thousands of daily drivers for the convenience of four vehicles, by adding four curbside parking spaces on Ventura Ave. at Thompson Blvd. This ridiculous addition all but destroyed traffic flow at the intersection because it negated the second left turn lane, congesting and slowing traffic. Now I add to the "problem" at Poli by way of Wall St. I don't speed, it's just a matter of less traffic and stop signs to pass through rather than signal lights. 

Let's face reality here: The City is going overboard in pushing The Pedestrian Agenda. I'm all in favor of biking and walking through town, but it has to be done smartly. The City must use intelligence when making Ventura more pedestrian friendly. Instead, today we have pedestrian right of way markings along Thompson. We have bicycle lanes along Santa Clara. We have bicycle lanes along Poli. We have a large flow of unsafe bicycle traffic along Main St. Downtown, and bike lanes further on. If every east-west thoroughfare is going to give priority access to bicyclists, vehicle drivers have to go somewhere. They have to get where they are going. Forcing them all together in each one of these thoroughfares will result in problems. That's a reality. Drivers are going to take those routes that permit them the easiest and least congested commute. That's a reality. Sometimes the two shouldn't mix.
