The principal needs to be replaced if he thinks this is the "important stuff" of his job! An since when are "knights" any less violent than "warriors"?

Sick, sick, sick. This country is losing its marbles. What a waste of time, energy, and effort. Common sense is out the window.

I suppose now the medical and health professions MUST lose the honorary designation of "Fellow", which dates back centuries and has been a position of highest stature for many.

Political correctness gone amuck. This guy needs to get a life and find some real work to occupy his time. His school board must be asleep or brain dead.

Great line of thinking..after all, this is 2009 and we just can't be offending people. But that's still not enough. I think that referring to the song as a "Fight" song is way too violent and we need to refer to that type of song in a calmer more soothing manner. After all, I'm offended and the world needs to cater to my sensitivities.

This is ludicrous.
Meanwhile, I looked up the Waupun High School test scores. They are slightly above average in the state of Wisconsin, which are consistently among the highest scores in the nation.

I agree that the fight song "uproar" was completely silly, but the good teachers of Wisconsin are still doing some of the best work in the country, despite wages that lag behind every state that borders it.

I find it funny that most of the students don't know the words. Just what do they sing at their pep rallies? Kumbaya?

So what if this principal wants to assure that there is no seemingly biased wording in the school's fight song? Most people I know would not assume that "fellow" included females, and those of you here who insist on quoting the dictionary...well aren't you the same ones telling the principal to get a life? Seems like you might want to follow your own advice.

Let's REALLY fix their fight song.

Instead of, "Fight fellows, fight, fight, fight" we need to do some PC cleansing.

"Fight" implies wars and no one wants a war. War is bad. Peace is good.

"Fellows" is sexist. It is a holdover from the Patriarchy of the Dark Ages.

Therefore, the NEW school song shall be, "Peace persons, peace, peace, peace."

What school WOULDN'T want the lyrics to THAT ditty up on their gym walls?

According to the dictionary, that would be Kooky Liberals. If you are going to lead us down such a mundane path, at least get the conservative spelling right.

This principal, in an effort to show us how enlightened he is, only confirms he had his balls removed years ago. I think he should change his name to "Sally".

You're right, that whole "Fight" thing is SO 20th-Century. They should change it to "Strive in an inclusive, cooperative, and harmonious manner while maintaining the smallest possible carbon footprint, students of all races, ethnicities, creeds, and sexual orientations, Strive, Strive Strive!"

That school logo that used to be a "W" for "Warriors" now stands for "W_u_s_s_i_e_s."

According to the dictionary, you're an ignoramus. Mr. Webster says this:

Main Entry: cook·ie
Variant(s): or cooky
Function: noun
Inflected Form(s): plural cook·ies
Etymology: Dutch koekje, diminutive of koek cake
Date: 1703

1: a small flat or slightly raised cake2 a: an attractive woman <a buxom French cookie who haunts the…colony's one night spot — Newsweek> b: person , guy <a tough cookie>3cookie : a small file or part of a file stored on a World Wide Web user's computer, created and subsequently read by a Web site server, and containing personal information (as a user identification code, customized preferences, or a record of pages visited)

How absolutely frigging rediculous! Perhaps they'll develop a new song that includes the cows too? Our country is being killed by political correctness. Liberals rise to the crazy occasion again.

The word "fellow" comes from "fellowship", which is not gender-specific. I am a woman who was awarded a fellowship while getting my PhD; we (women and men) are referred to as fellows.
