That may be true, but that is not more important than making ALL people feel welcome in your town!

NOT EXACTLY TRUE. THE WOMEN IN OWOSSO DON'T LIKE OUTSIDERS,ESPCECIALLY OTHER WOMEN. OR, SHOULD I SAY THOSE WOMEN IN A HIGHER APPOINTED POSITION SUCH AS AT THE ARGUS PRESS.

All I have to say is if you really have that mnay negative things to say about the town of Owosso, where many of you live; then find somewhere else to live and stop bitching.

I have to admit, I have lived in this town for four going on five years and it sucks, the people are rude and not very nice at all. One thing that we have noticed is that there is a church on every corner instead of a gas station. These people are so uptight because of their religous affilliations that they don't know how to get their head out of their asses.

Another words women who move into Owosso who have more education are not welcome because they have more education isn't that a little biased.

I was born, raised and grew up in Owosso. After thirty years, I finally left. I am so glad I did. I actually worked at the Argus, and I must suggest, that talent is frowned upon. It is pretty sad that after living in a town for thirty years people treat you like a stranger. So, I took the one person's advice above and I LEFT! Thank goodness I did. I have a great job now where people appreciate my talent. The old Owosso Curse is lifted, I recommend all of you stuck there leave ASAP. Up north is a good choice, they have great community colleges up here.

I agree with the idea that a noticeable amount of folks in Owosso seem rude. I didn't notice it until I went away to college and came back for the summer.

It also seems as though Owosso has acquired quite a transient population lately. I don't know if there is any correlation there.

I have to wonder if these are recent experiences (negative) that you have had?

I relocated to Owosso about six years ago and found the small city to be inviting and engaging. Not that Owosso is without its own challenges, but it is trying very hard.

Owosso, like any city, is only going to give back what you invest into it. Unfortunate that you view Owosso in such a negative way, hopefully if you return in a year or two, you will see what investments we, as a community, have made to make this city more enjoyable for everyone.

I have lived in Owosso most of my life. Yes! Owosso does have it sour points, like any town does but in my opinion the good out ways the bad. If you were a little more optimistic than pessimistic you would notice Owosso is a great town with a lot of wonderful, caring people. The problem might not be the people in Owosso that are bad, but maybe yourself. Look at it that way. If you think that about Owosso you may think that of any town you live in.

I have lived in Owosso, MI for about 8 years. It is true that the people there DO NOT RESPECT EDCUCATED WOMEN! I have tried to get two totally different services going in Owosso, only to have them denied by city officials.(I currenly hold a BA in Social Sciences and will be done with my Master's degree very soon). I grew up around Flint and would have to say that I would rather go back than to stick around much longer. At least they would encourage anyone who was trying to make a positive impact on people's lives rather than beat them down at every turn. I can't believe the grief I have gotten for trying to make a difference in this town!

Warning: DO NOT MOVE TO OWOSSO. They will only try their best to make you miserable. I WOULD STAY FAR AWAY!

I have lived in Owosso all my life, born and raised here, as were my parents and grandparents. The town has definitely changed over the course of the last fifty years. I have tried to join several churches in the area and have not felt welcome. I am guessing at this, but anyone new (especially a woman) somehow threatens the existing parishoners status in the church. I was very nice, well dressed and respectful and I received the cold shoulder. When I walk downtown, nobody says hi or good day anymore. When going into a store I always try to hold the door for whoever is going in or out - no one says thank you, hello, or go eat poop! The town has a bad vibe. Now that my family has all moved on, I am looking to move as soon as the housing market comes back around. There is nothing anymore to keep me here.

I have been here 45 years and now all of a sudden all you see is blacks and hear about robberies and break in and I have children running through my yard breaking off trees and flowers and actually kicking my chained up dog. I walk out on my own porch and a mexican yells at me for chasing his kids off my property. I go to the carwash and a black kid tells me he wants money for a pack of smokes. Send em back to Flint where they belong.

I believe the problem with children these days is that the law is not on our side anymore, parents should not have to be afraid to dicipline their children for wrong doing. Talking to them is not always what is takes. Sometime a good whoopin is in order. there is a BIG difference between beating and dicipline.
And then there are some parents who just don't give a rip what their children do. Which makes it hard on other people who have no rights when it comes to other peoples children. Maybe get a bigger dog LOL. And a security system that will record their doings. Then after some heavy fines in court, maybe the parents will wake up.
I have a security system at my house. I have caught a few and prosecuted. It does help.

I am not trying to judge by the color of someone's skin or nationality-it is just absolutely so obvious that none of this has ever gone on in this neighborhood in the years I've lived here and all of a sudden all these "different" people show up and my neighbors and myself are having nothing but problems-now it's garages broken into and stolen firewood and even stolen batteries out of solar lighting-can any of us afford to move? No, most of us will lose thousands if we do because of the value of our homes has dropped so much-every city assessment is absolutely depressing-but the taxes certainly haven't gone down-and the children and teenagers-even adults-run wild-it is starting to remind me of an underdeveloped country. Example-after a short trip to the store recently I came home and found three teenage children on my porch swinging like maniacs in my porch swing, who told me to f-off when I asked them to leave. They were gone by the time the police arrived-5 hours after I called-but is this the way it's going to be from now on? oh yes-Owosso rocks all right

Owosso is a great town. Try living in East Lansing where no one is friendly and neighbors pretend to care but no one really does (it's totally fake, and our neighborhood is very "Desperate Housewives" feeling). We live in one of the new subs in East Lansing and I would give anything to move back to my friendly hometown of Owosso. We even still belong to a church there because we feel more at home than at St. Thomas. I went to Ann Arbor for undergrad and I couldn't have missed Owosso more. If you get involved and find your place to make a difference in the community (so many wonderful organizations!), you might see a big difference in your opinion of the area. I also have a master's degree and I've never noticed that "educated women" are looked down upon.
