Of course one would expect ignoramuses in a thread like this but really, pulling out the sinking of a ship in 1967 to make a point?
Methadone is NOT harder to "get off of." In fact, its symptoms at cessation are very mild when compared to morphine, heroin, or oxycodone. They DO last a lot longer though and that is because of its 36 hour half life. Symptoms typically don't begin for 5 days when someone has used it regularly over the course of how many years.
It was NOT "invented" by Hitler. It WAS invented by his government because Germany was cut off from supplies of opium and needed to produce comprable opioids (synthetic opiates). Soldiers getting wounded, Germans still needing analgesics during the war, and so on.
As far as methadone "getting people high," if you consider "sedation" to be a fun thing, you have an argument. However, opiate/opioid users and addicts crave euphoria. Methadone is chemically incapable of producing it. Euphoria is a quantifiable value assayed by tail flick/sphincter contraction, motility, and brain imaging.
For general information, all opiates/opioids are subject to a four part rule known as the Morphine Rule. Methadone fails on the fourth part, specifically, it doesn't have a CH2-CH2 Group linked to a tertiary nitrogen atom. It can relieve pain (though shouldn't be prescribed for chronic pain due to its long half life), and it can be substituted for other opiates/opioids to stave off withdrawal symptoms. It is therefore the perfect substitution for opiate/opioid addicts.
However, why would methadone be "bad" IF it did produce euphoria? People posting here talking about the evils of drugs, great...you better never drink a drop of alcohol, take a sip of coffee, tea or cola, and for that matter, never go near chocolate. Humans have used psychoactive substances since the dawn of time and the only time it becomes problematic is when ignoramuses apply Prohibition, which never works anyway. China and Iran both used to execute common addicts. Both countries learned the hard way that people will use drugs no matter the consequences. Therefore, it is only sensible to supply medicaly pure substances dispensed under medical supervision. Methadone, now used in Iran and China by the way, allows addicts to become stable, law abiding citizens. If you disagree with it because of some moral chip on your shoulder you have a bigger problem than the worst addict .
Hypocrisy is sad.
As for the clown trying to sell electro-gadgets, get a life.
