Late Night Accident Shuts Down Slate Avenue

Two young Bath County men escaped serious injury late last night when their vehicle overturned on Slate Avenue. Emergency crews were dispatched to the area of 358 Slate Avenue around 10:15 last night to a report of a vehicle that had struck a utility pole and overturned in the roadway. The men, whose names have not been released as of this time, stated they were travelling east on Kentucky 36 when a vehicle travelling the opposite direction ran them off the road. The driver swerved to miss the other vehicle, over corrected, then struck a utility pole before overturning. Both the driver and passenger were able to get out of the vehicle. The driver was apparantly uninjured, but the passenger was treated on scene by Bath County EMS for an arm injury and released to family members. Owingsville Police and Owingsville Fire Department responded to the accident also, which shut down Slate Avenue for over an hour until crews were able to clean up the debris. Kentucky Utlities responded to the scene to repair the broken utility pole and restore electrical service to the area, and were on still scene at 6:00 am finishing repairs. The accident remains under investigation by the Owingsville Police Department. (This article was submitted by a reader.)
